Northwest DUers - Thanks
I returned to Sacramento from my ride through the great Northwest on Sunday. 2,163 miles. I had a great time, reestablished some old friendships, and saw some beautiful scenery. The views from Vista House were incredible. Thanks wakemeupwhenitsover.

I never made it to Vancouver Island since my semi-adopted son was on leave in Anacortes and we enjoyed much good food and drink. The Stork restaurant in the bowling alley has the absolute best chicken fried steak and gravy I have ever consumed. I swear I could feel the cholesterol coursing thru my veins. I got the grand tour of Fidalgo Island and then rode the ferry to Port Townsend. Port Orchard was a wash except for seeing a former co-worker at his gorgeous home on the water. My other friend got called back to San Diego.

I spent a night in Vancouver WA and met up with my youngest son and his girlfriend for dessert at Applebee's. I was out running down some groceries and they saw me going the opposite direction. Small world. I rode up to Astoria and then started to ride the entire Oregon Coast, stopping in Newport for the night. This coast is so much nicer that CA's. Much more access and the roads aren't as winding. But on the run from Newport to Eureka, I thought I'd freeze. The fog was cutting thru my clothes. All I was interested in was a warm hotel. I found it!

My final day was getting back into the heat down 101 and across Lake County to I-5. By the time I got home I was ready for a dip in the pool.

It was a great adventure. I wonder where I'll go next year?

1. I love the northern Oregon coast.
My favorite place this little spot called Cape Meares that's just west of Tillamook. Everybody misses it because it's not just off of highway 101.

4. I went thru Tillamook
but stayed on 101. That town has a serious dairy waste problem. Very fragrant.

3. My semi-son is a regular there
and everyone seemed to know each other. BTW, he drove me by the gates to Tom Selleck's place. I felt possessed to fly the bird!
