4. Mine:
Sleeping in.
Going swimming at the public pool. We always went after my Mom's soaps were over, so when we heard the closing theme of "The Doctors", we knew it was time! :-)
Playing outside all day and getting a great 'kid' tan.
Walking over to the quiet, empty school and gloating that it was over for three whole months.
Laying out under the trees and enjoying the sound of the rustling wind through the leaves.
Daytime TV gameshows that you missed when you were in school.
Vacations to Disneyland and to visit grandparents.
Going on bike excursions with my brother and my best friend. We all had '70's Cool' Schwinn street bikes with the banana seat and the contoured rubber finger grips.
Hearing rock and roll blasting out of car and open house windows. We couldn't listen to rock at home (My parents are good liberals, but not very funky) so we enjoyed it where we could.
Daylong Nerf football games played with the zeal and passion of NFL Super Bowlers.

13. Renting a cottage at Salisbury Beach MA every summer.
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 02:57 PM by maveric
The best days of my life. Ma and Dad would get 3 weeks off every summer. Two of those weeks we'd rent a cottage at the beach. I'd get up early and walk down to the "Center" a midway-like area, that had rides, games, food stands... and wait till Tripoli Pizza opened at 10:30 AM, where I'd get me a slice for 25 cents. My brother and I would walk the beack early in the morning and find some cool things that washed up. We found a lobster pot with 3 lobsters in it once, sand dollars, a sand shark in a tidal pool, a ships bell and once a $10.00 bill floating in the surf.
At night the "Center" was a jumping place. Cool and scary rides, huge arcades and every great and greasy food known to mankind. Oh, and Skeeball! My whole family spent a whole day playing skeeball once. We won a shitload of tickets and redeemed them for a set of folding TV tables.
Oh to only have a way-back machine!
