Amazingly, people keep surprising me with their ignorance.
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 08:33 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
I live in a 24 story building. A few months ago, people got evicted from this apartment for chunking ice off the balcony. While I was outside on my balcony just now, I see a cigarette flip down in front of me and go down to the roof of the awning, which is, luckily, cement. Why is it not ok to chunk ice off the balcony, but it's ok and not an evictable offense to throw something that is on fire off the balcony. It just pisses me off anyway smokers not putting their butts in an ashtray anyway, but throwing it off a balcony? God people are royally stupid.
:grr:

2. That's just rude!
I'm a smoker and I always use an ashtray or something. What if it had landed on you? People like that give smokers a bad name.

7. If I'm outside and smoking, I put the cigarette out with my foot,
put the butt in my pocket, and put it in the trash when I get inside.

I've seen people throw out lit cigarettes on the grass. They'll throw their lit cigarettes out of moving cars.

I wish I could say I don't understand the animus against smokers but a lot of them are rude fuckers.

19. I always twist it
until the rock and all the tobacco falls out and put that out with my foot and stick the empty butt in my cig pack.

When I smoke in the car, I make sure I'm not near grass and dump the rock and tobacco out the window (since it's all biodegradable) and put the empty butt in my ashtray.

I can't stand to see people throw things out of car windows, either. All anyone has to do is look in my car and it's apparent that I'm not a litter bug. :o

12. "Chuck," not "chunk."
"Chuck" means throw, "chunk" means a piece of something.

14. Throwing lit cigarettes off a balcony is dangerous
They could land in someone's hair, on their clothes, on the cloth furniture of a lower balcony, etc. It is a fire and safety hazard. The building owners should give notice that this is not allowed and take action against anyone caught doing this. People who do it are simply being lazy and inconsiderate.

18. As a smoker I gotta say
it's not that hard to properly take care of your cigarette butt. If I'm somewhere without an ashtray, I put the cigarette out and stick it in my pocket until I find a trashcan. My car didn't come with an ashtray, so I keep an ashtray in there instead of throwing the butt out the window.

If there are non-smokers around me, I move away from them so the smoke won't bother them. I don't stand in front of or near public entrances to buildings while I smoke. I hate rude smokers, they make non-smokers think we're ALL rude fuckers.

Please know that at least SOME of us try our best not to be a rude smoker.
