God, I am in so much pain.
Vicodin, muscle relaxants, ice--nothing will touch it. Please, someone put me out of my misery.

2. When do you see your doctor next?
If Vicodin isn't working, they may bump you up to Percocet...or even better, morphine.

In other news, didja see my nifty poll?

2 parts Epsoms Salts, 1 part Baking Soda, and your fave oil (mine's lavender) in a bathtub. It's my snake oil and I'm sticking to it.

Feel better very soon.

18. See your pain center and get a duragesic pain patches (Fentanyl)
Many people are trying out duragesic pain patches for pain relief - it delivers Fentanyl through the patients skin.

There are various dosages - up to 75 mg over 3 days, but you can get a 3 day patch ordered for every 2 days - and even drain the old patch for few extra days.

Warning - these are the same patches that are associated with 129 deaths - possibly from overdoses - since coming to market a couple of years ago.

They work very very well - but you will nap a lot - but it cuts the pain to tolerable and sometimes not even noticeable.

20. Duragesics rocked
I still had breakthrough pain, for which I had morphine, but the Duragesics were good enough to cut it to "tolerable" at the beginning and very end of radiation/recovery.

19. when all else fails ...
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 09:27 PM by welshTerrier2
please read this link and all the related links on the website ...

http://www.mbmi.org/pages/bio2.asp

much of what these guys do sounds like voodoo or pop psych but their results are very well documented ... this is not some wacky brew you can buy from an infomercial ... the Mind-Body Clinic gets referrals from all the top Boston hospitals which are among the best in the world ...

here's a link to affiliated programs if you're not in the Boston area:
http://www.mbmi.org/pages/about2.asp

there are never any guarantees with any program but it sounds like your pain symptoms make this very much worth a try ...

here's another link for their chronic pain program:
http://www.mbmi.org/pages/mp_mp2.asp

i really hope you check it out ... please let us know if you do ...

24. Hey wonderful peeps, I'm starting to come out of it. :)
Thanks so much for the support. Just knowing you guys care helps a lot.

My neck muscles were spasming, sending radiating pain into my forehead and face. All day. But it's letting up a little...thank goodness. :)

I don't see the surgeon until early August and my primary care physician "can't do anything about it." I walked there once when I was in pain and too full of Vicodin to drive and he sent me home with a shrug, saying he didn't want to interfere with the care of my neurosurgeon (whom I last saw in the hospital and won't see until August) and that his clinic didn't have the necessary medications to help me. That's odd since the clinic is in a hospital.

On Friday I called the neurosurgery clinic at UC Davis, concerned about these pain attacks, but no one has returned my call.

Next time this happens, I could try going to the ER, but if I'm full of pain meds, I can't drive. Also, I don't think I could sit for very long in a waiting room with my neck and head throbbing like that. It was much worse than when I walked to the clinic.

(Was the personal attack just some freeper troll?)
