2. No - I just left Best Buy
and to get everything I need, it is at least $200. Yes, they have a receiver for $50, but you need a bunch of other stuff too.

7. Does anyone else find it odd that it's an Air America/XM special
Yet you still get a bastardized, chopped up version of the AAR programming on XM?

No thanks.

9. So it's really not the same programming I was listening to on Sirius?
Never mind then.

I just wanted to listen to Randi anyway. I was willing to spend $50 for her show, but not $200.

10. I was on Sirius too until AAR dumped them.
Streaming is working just fine for now (I work at home). I also get a chopped schedule on AM if I'm away from my computer. Randi's show is chopped and delayed on XM, and Malloy doesn't come on until late into the night. AAR fucked up IMO.

18. I like Sirius left. I switched to Sirius left right after the AAR/XM deal
Screw AAR. I like Sirius left. I can't wait to see what Sirius does with 144.

AAR screwed up. Why? Cuz they are already in a lot of local markets. So there is no need to go Satellite radio just for AAR. Plus the schedule is better on local than XM cuz Randi and Malloy are cut. I was angry with AAR for cutting Unfiltered anyways. I can't listen to Jerry. So I wasn't listening to the full lineup anyways after that. Just Morning Sedition and Randi.

So why pay for XM when you can get the entire lineup on a local station or online. I went Sirius in the first place because they had the full lineup and XM didn't.

I love Sirius Dance channels and Sirius Left. I haven't lost a damn thing. I will have gained when Sirius gets their new Progressive exclusive lineup on 144.

28. I hope you are right.. Young Turks is ok
I refuse to pay again for the equipment I already have, and sometimes I can get the LA station in my car..

I too think that AAR made a goof by being "exclusive". They gave XM all the power..XM can come up with some bogus stats, and tell them they get less time or shows that are timr-delayed, and they have no power to override it.

I think Sirius screwed up too by spending so much for Stern..and I don;t think that Martha will end up being very good for them.. She is a visual person, and I cannot imagine that she will have a very big radio following.

they should concentrate on provinding what is NOT already on air in abundance..i.e. liberal talk.. Give NEW people a reason to search them out, like so many of us did when they announces AAR in the first place.. I would NEVER have bought Sirius except for AAR and I know I am not alone..

16. Ed Schultz and especially the FAUX shill Alan Colmes have to GO!!
One's a DLC appeaser and the other is a Murdoch shill. Neither has a damn thing to do with Air America.

My AM signal is unlistenable in the car and non-existent at home, so XM was my only realistic option, but those two idiots have GOT to go!!

8. Now that is not a bad idea
But someone here posted a picture of an XM radio called a roadie and said it was only $50 at Best Buy.

The clerk there almost laughed when I asked him about it.

17. my dad got a really good deal on a roadie
I don't think it was $50 but it was less than $100 for the whole set-up and free installation but it was at Circuit City and it was a few months ago. So I don't know if they still have that promotion going.

22. The E-buyer $19.99 contained the whole car kit, but not the Home kit
I got the same deal. Then I got the Home kit at Circuit City for $37, so I still ended up with a much better deal than the package advertized on the website link above.

Still not good enough to tolerate Alan Colmes though.

23. I got that same $19.99 deal . . .
wow, it's really jumped in price in the less than two weeks since I ordered mine! After the sale, it went up to $35.99, and now it's $49.99! Yikes! That's the retail price on the XM Radio website, I think.

I've seen several places on the internet where it was around $35, still a good price, considering it was originally $99.99. Just google "Roady2."

I, too, am getting the home kit--next week on payday at Circuit City. They have it for $37.99. I'm at home a lot more than I'm in my car, but I like the ability to be able to use it just about anywhere you want.

I would have never thought I could have afforded satellite radio before, but how can you pass up a $20 deal? Now I'm glad I bought it--I love it!

Thanks to the DUer who posted the info about the sale!

We have a few crappy radio stations here, so the XM is AMAZING. I drive just to use it ;)

Welcome to DU by the way! :hi:

30. I really do like it.
I don't listen to much radio anymore--one local station on my way to work in the morning and that's about it. I've given up on NPR, and all the other talk radio stations here in OKC are either conservative or religious, so there's not much to choose from. I listen to a lot of mp3s and podcasts in my car.

I like XM because there's so much variety in the music. My favorite station will probably be Frank's Place (73)--I've listened to that on Live365.com. I love getting the Broadway music and BBC radio, too. I do wish they had a French pop music station, though--I listen to ChanteFrance and RockDetente a lot by streaming audio. However, that said, I can turn around and listen to Fred or the Loft or Boneyard and be just as happy. (I'm slight schizo in my musical tastes, can you tell?)

I can't wait until I can listen in the house. I don't watch much TV, so this will be a nice change. I think it's the best $20 I ever spent!

Thanks for the welcome!
