Need advice on new running shoes - (non-exploitive)
It's hard to shop these days. Does anyone know what shoes I can buy without guilt?

2. New Balance
From what I understand, they're one of the few (and perhaps only) brands made in the USA and not with third-world labor.

5. they used to be in Maine
they are indeed, an excellent shoe. But,they did also pull out to go overseas--they were located in Skowhegan originally-there is little there now--as with the rest of the Maine shoe factories.

6. Yeah, watch out, though. >
As a long-time NB wearer, I can tell you their modus operandus:

NB introduces a new model that's made in the USA. If/when that model becomes successful, the "Made in USA" label disappears, but the price stays the same.

The shoes look the same, but they're made for cents on the dollar somewhere overseas. The quality dips precipitously.
