The Arkansas State Police telephone every year, begging for money. If I asnwer the phone, I hang up with the words, "I don't respond to telephone solicitations." My husbands is more polite. A month ago, he took the call, politely explained to the cop that he was out of work and sick, but that if they sent information, he'd read it. Well, they sent information, all right. Namely a card saying we'd pledged ten bucks, which is an outright lie.
No, we're not going to pay it. But I thought anyone in Arkansas might want to use my technique in dealing with the cops instead of my husband's.

really aren't... I don't respond to any calls like that.
I used to just hang up on anyone I didn't know immediately... now I just screen all my calls.

| 2. Did you call the State Police and ask about it? I would have. |
