up to go to the White House with their father for an important event, do you? What would you want them to wear -- T-shirts and jeans with sneakers?
Didn't Democrat John Edwards have his two very young kids on display when he was running for Vice President? As I recall, no one commented about their wardrobe. Cut John Roberts SOME slack!
Sorry, I'm sarcastic and a little bit irked, Shoeempress!

They don't know how to behave? The little boy is like 4 or 5? Give him some slack. He's a kid. My wife is probably the world's best mom, but she cannot predict what my 5 year old will do in a given set of circumstances. I think the kids are darling.

Sorry, but until a child knows how to behave they should not be there. In addition, it doesn't bother you that they are being used for political purposes? Do you bring your kids to important meetings for work? I'm guessing no.

Did they dance around during a press conference? I'm not blaming the child at all, but he clearly needed something other than national press conference time. And, maybe, being in a more comfortable outfit would have helped.

That's pretty important. No it doesn't bother me that they are present for their Dad's important day. I liken it to being sworn in as an attorney or a judge. I would want all of my family there for those occasions. I didn't think John Edward's kids were a prop or a problem either. Do you?

I see kids dressed like that on Easter. John Edwards' kid was dressed in a little seersucker suit at the convention. So what?

et?
It's like he's the *serious* one, but everyone else has to look like fruits.
I think the girl's outfit is fine. I personally despise Peter Pan collars (I think that's what they're called), but she looks cute. I think the boy's outfit is fine except for the saddle shoes, which were only ever worn by girls in my experience. Even his wife looks okay.
But Roberts doesn't even have to wear a pastel tie? No frickin fair!!

I'll bet it would be a perfect match.

I am a total liberal who likes to dress conservatively (can be challenging b/c the first impression I make -- and consequently my kids -- is one of a "conservative"). I personally hate it when people judge me by my clothing and I try not to do so to others. As far as the behavior of the little boy -- I wonder if those of you who commented on this HAVE children? If you don't, I can assure you he is behaving as any little boy his age would. I don't really see anything wrong with it -- Edward's kids were always on display, Kennedy's kids were on display.... etc. I personally am more concerned with the POLITICS not the clothing.....

However, I wish the Shrub had held this not at prime time, because knowing and living with little boys, it was 9PM EST and the kid was probably past his bedtime.
I'd rather focus on getting the Plame game resolved!

He does it so the liberals say "ohh they're soo cute, ohh wait... I forgot why this guy shouldn't be confirmed."
And the conservatives say "Well this gentleman has a wonderfully traditional W.A.S.P. family and appearence, he should definitly be confirmed!"
Its like when shrub stupid banners in the background like "mission accomplished" and "a stronger economy." Most Americans have trouble paying attention and thats taken advantage of with subliminal messages.

I, for one, am sick of the laissez faire attitude toward dressing these days. My kids and I still dress up to fly and I am continuously amazed at how many people dress down for things that used to be considered "events"

The ones that show his friend, there is a picture of the friends wife "before" the alleged enhancement, thats what she looks like.
The commercials are funny because they are campily retro. I am scared of people who don't know that they are camp.
