Just had an infuriating incident...
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 09:06 PM by texas1928
My wife took a few days off from work yesterday, today and friday. We have had a big red dually parked in front of our Quadraplex for three weeks now. It was parked in front of our mail boxes the whole time. Well this morning the postman stopped and knocked on the door to ask who the truck belonged to, because it is about to be towed. They were blocking the mail boxes. My wife went out to see if she could get a number off the dealer tag on the back to let them know that it was about to be towed.

Well this evening at 6:30, this guy rings the doorbell, I can not get from behind the table so my wife answered. He had walked away so she walked out to see if she could catch them and ask what they needed. This guy squares off and starts yelling at my wife saying the kid across the street saw her key his truck. She walked inside crying cause he got in her face and was yelling. I went outside and he started across the parking lot yelling "OH YOU WANT TO START SOMETHING?" I said what is your problem. He said the same thing to me and added he just found a dent, too. I looked at him and said that my wife was not that type of person, and she did not key the truck, plus I told him what the postman has said. He said he could park anywhere he wanted cause it was a public street and I said no you can not park in front of postal service.

He said he was filing a report with his "corporate insurance" on this.
I told him go ahead, and I will have a lawyer waiting on him. He told me his Daddy was flying in from Florida tomorrow and he would be by to deal with us. I said bring him, and he can talk to the police. Well, he said well I have to file this, but I will not say she did it, but that she was witnessed around the truck. I said you can not say that. He asked why and I said where are the police, they should have come and talk to us not you, your insurance is going to ask for a police report. He walked away then and he had two buddies take the truck some place else. His girlfriend lives in the quads next to us.

I called the police and the officer who showed said he was wrong and she put a watch on the house, and said to call 911 before we, even open the door. I told my wife that she will not open the door while I am not there, to call 911 and wait. We have a watch on our house and vehicles, and the officer said she would be by at least once an hour tonight.

I am so pissed right now my hands are shaking... I wanted to hit him so bad, when he tried to tower over me and act tough to me. I am in a wheelchair, I wanted to hit him in the nuts so bad. But I did not and I kept my temper. I will let the police deal with them.

Sorry, thanks for letting me vent.

1. People will do anything to get insurance money
Guy was scamming you. He just wants to get the insurance money and blame it on you. Same thing happened to my mom. She was backing up in my sister's complex parking lot when she accidently bumped into a car behind her. Well the girl came out and started shit with my mom telling her she was going to mess her up, etc etc. My mom just had a heart attack not too long ago and she is a kidney patient. BTW the car was already dented up and shit.

Hope you stay safe though there are too many crazy people out there.

7. Scammer
plus he couldn't produce witnesses, surely someone hearing this guy yell in your face may have seen your wife perform the act if she had, which she didn't so how would he prove it?

9. Well the kid said it happened this morning and he did not confront us...
Til 6:30 PM. He does not have a leg to stand on since he called the police to report it and I did.

25. Why would he say it happened this morning
and then confront you later, BTW how would he know if it happened that morning if he was somewhere else (which I am assuming he was unless I am wrong)

So I think he was just trying to scam his insurance company and it isn't going to work.

27. This kid, I say kid he is an 18 year old punk
said he saw my wife around the truck this morning. This was when she was out checking the mail and also trying to see if she could get a contact number of the dealer tag, to call and tell them what the postman said. The kid lives across the street and they are always setting out in front of their apartment.

8. Did the mailman see you wife go out to the truck
to get the information? Without a wittness to the actual damage they have nothing. If that guy threatened you, you could press charges for assault. Assault is the threat of harm. Battery is the actual harm.

14. I am a three year criminal justice major.
I learned alittle bit and I have a lot of cop friends(a lot of them are Liberals). The postman had already gone on. He did not threaten me verbally but his actions were threatening. His stance and his fists being balled up. I asked him to call the police, and we would talk to them, that is when he walked away and left, in a pretty big hurry.

11. What a jerk
spouting off about things he clearly knows little about (or his "charges" - claims of what he would do - wouldn't sound like such nonsense.)

Vent all you need to do - you are taking the right approach.

It s*cks that your wife, on her time off, has to feel so restricted in movement due to this *ss. There is nothing worse than feeling the sanctity of one's home and yard feel violated (as in that you do not have the freedom of feeling "sanctity" in one's own space.)

May this resolve quickly.

Good on you for standing up to that guy. I've been in situations like that myself, so I know how you feel. I'm sure there are people who know instinctively how to deal with assholes like that, and keep a cool head through it all, but I'm not one of them. I've come out of confrontations like that, too, with my hands shaking and pulse racing. You did the right thing. I'm proud of you.

You the MAN! B-)

I have put people in the hospital before with my temper and bare hands.

I did not lose it and I did not beat him. I could have. I have been in fights with my chair. I am not afraid. But I knew if I did it would not help the situation, since I knew I was calling the police.

23. As I said in an above post.
I have put people in the hospital with my bare hands. I just could not let myself go. I knew I had to remain cool. He did not verbally threaten bodily harm, but the balled fists and the stomping toward me shouting "Oh you want to start something?" Made that fight feeling come back. I have this blood rage that builds very quickly and I explode. My eyesight started turning red. I had to calm myself down before I exploded.

I have broken noses, arms, legs, and I busted a guys sinus cavity in a fight. I can knock a guy out with one punch, and where that force would be directed now would be the nuts. But me kicking his ass would not make a good impression on the cop.

2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, garage, and fenced yard for 650, and it is a nicer neighborhood, about the same distance from my work and hers, that our current one is.

And the sad part is he does not have a clue. If his daddy is of any intelligence the first thing he will say is why did you not call the police, and why did you confront those people with out the police there. But I bet his daddy is just like him and will show up all hot and bothered and try to intimidate me too. Well guess what I will have a surprise for them.
