Are Your Pets Finicky Eaters?
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 11:26 AM by arwalden
When it comes to regular dogfood, our Mitzi is. She'll eat almost ANY human food, but sometimes she will REFUSE to eat her dry food until she's gone for over a DAY without food, then her instincts take over and she'll eat a full bowl as though it were the greatest thing ever.

Weird.

1. Sounds like one of my dogs. The other two will
eat any and everything. But my other one does the exact same thing as yours.

2. My dog was, until I got another dog
Now she scarfs it down in record time. I think dogs just get comfortable after awhile. They know they'll always get food, so why hurry.

3. Only when it comes to treats
They refuse to eat any kind but Pounce Tartar Control. As far as regular food, they'll eat any kind I put in front of them.

4. In the sense that they don't eat most inorganic items, yes

Other than that, the world is their smorgasbord.

Dave Barry: "A dog will immediately eat anything that falls on the floor - on the theory that if it turns out not to be food, he can always throw it up later."

5. Not finicky so much as they are moody :)
I mean . . . one day they LOVE a certain type of food, the next they won't touch it, but if you give it to them on day 3 they like it again.

So, I have to keep 3 or 4 types of food on hand for the little furballs.

6. No, but I discovered that one of them loves pig
Just like Bucky Katt! I had a bunch of leftover BBQ, and gave some to Jello Biafra. He loved it!

7. My cat only eats Fancy Feast canned cat food.
No other brands. If they ever stop making Fancy Feast, she's in trouble, canned cat food wise.

10. She changed after taking cortizone
My dog used to eat anything and everything. Then she made the mistake of drining from a puddle that had lawn chemicals pooled up in it. Her ears swelled and she had to get emergency cortizone shots. Since that day she is very picky, She won't even eat meat if it's too spicy, like leftover taco meat.

Poor baby ...

11. One day my wife
came home with some leftover bbq rib bones from work. Our Aussie was eating the dry dog food out of her bowl when she saw the bone my wife was holding up. She immediately spit out the dry food and went for the bone.

13. After much research,
we decided to feed our dog the B.A.R.F. diet. So she eats mostly a raw diet. But eats what we eat too.

Please look into barf.com and listen to what your dog is telling you.

15. No. Not Even A Little
The only thing my dog won't eat is uncooked broccoli, cauliflower or celery. If it's cooked, he'll eat it. The raw version must feel weird on his tongue or something.

But, he'll eat any other veggie or fruit, all meats and starches. (No, we don't let him eat onions or grapes, but he would if we let him.) His main diet is the low fat dry dog food. (Sorry, i forget what brand.)

The cats mostly eat dry cat food, but they'll lick a pizza plate for the cheese, and will eat potatoes, noodles and some other cooked veggies.

But, all three of them will eat any pet food we put in the bowl. Pretty convenient, really.

16. Our dog is exactly like that too
He loves almost any human food - especially steaks, pastas, and sweets - but detests dry dog food.
