1. Yes
I spell incredibly well, which I attribute to a lifetime of reading.

3. Yes I am a good speller,
although I am a terrible typist. Spell check helps but there is still no substitue for proofreading.

I also attribute this to a lifetime of reading.

14. Yeah, you've gotta always be sure to look for typos
that are inadvertently OTHER words. Or the occasional gaffe where you just leave a word out--spell check doesn't help with that stuff! (I'd like a smilie slapping its own forehead to sum up how I feel about that)

:hi: speller

15. You know, I do believe you're right,
I've just rarely seen it spelled out at all, and never with an "OR" ending.

Here's a question, are people who post on a board like this postOrs or postErs?

My hunch wopuld be postors--but I've never seen it written out.

Any thoughts?

and or for spell when making nouns out of them.

See Binckly, "Etymological Patterns In Spelling and Usage", 3rd ed., 1942.

23. I'll be damned--is that the reason for the distinction
between -or and -er endings? Bettor, runner, spellor, poster, lessor, actor, lover, shit. We're all screwed!

Thanks for the reference thouogh.

I'm probably still above average. Most of the time, I'll take the time to look up what I'm trying to spell.

26. Nope
I never took the time to learn how to spell correctly. I am an avid reader, but I don't think it helps me spell any better.
There are many things that I can do really well, but I have "black holes" in my brain for some of what I was supposed to learn. I'm really not a "stupid" person, I just don't have a passion for grammar and spelling.
