Firefox Browser vulnerability Identified

Internet security experts say computer code that could be used to attack systems with older versions of Firefox has been released in cyberspace.

The French Security Incident Response Team said the exploit code takes advantage of a security vulnerability in Firefox 1.0.1 and earlier versions of the open-source Web browser, CNET News reported Thursday.

The bug exists because of an error in the way the older versions of Firefox handle GIF images, the French group said. An attacker could gain control of a PC by luring the user to a Web page or sending an e-mail containing a specially crafted image.

Only Firefox 1.0.1 and earlier versions are vulnerable.

1. Ha, I knew it...

My FireFox is disabled! I'm pissed. I love it and I can't use it. Seems there's a copy of 1.0 resident without an uninstall feature. Won't go away. I tried the Alpha 1 version a couple of weeks ago. Worked fine until today. Now I can't get to the web with it.

Their Help section is so f'ed up I don't know where to go. Guess I'll just pay some computer guy $100 to fix it :argh:

get more popular, they will be targeted more.

i needed to anyway but i was dragging my feet... it took like 3 seconds so... yea... but its done now.
