20. Since this is my favorite band....

I take this poll rather seriously.

Their self-titled first album was great. Really great, It is probably my second favorite, notable for the excellent Reel Around The Fountain, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, and Suffer Little Children.

Overall, Meat is Murder is not their strongest album - though MANY would disagree with me. Some good lyrics on Nowhere Fast and Rusholme Ruffians, and How Soon Is Now IS a classic, but this one is not my favorite album.

The Queen is Dead has some great songs, and gets bonus points for the most excellent The Boy With The Thorn in His Side, Bigmouth Strikes Again, and Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others. However, for having the timeless and most necessary There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, this album is the clear winner.

Strangeways is a more somber album, but has some excellent tracks: I Won't Share You and I Started Something I Couldn't Finish.

Rank is a live album - some of the other bootlegs out there are much better... particualrly the Handsome Devils bootleg.

Winner: The Queen is Dead for overall album awesomeness.

Finishing up an exhausting but satisfying first year of my grad school program. We ended quite a bit later than other schools, so I was working pretty heavy into June.

I voted for the first one myself because of memories of a certain hellish freshman year at college, but I gotta say Meat's probably the better album.
