1. Kokomo?
I've always wondered if there really was a tropical place called Kokomo or of the Beach Boys just got confused.

I grew up near Kokomo Indiana and hearing that name mentioned as a resort location just cracks me up.

2. Actually, the name of the song was inspired by Kokomo, IN
I remember hearing an interview with Carl Wilson in which he said that they thought the town in Indiana had a cool name and that it sounded like a tropical resort, so they wrote a song for it.
