puppy pics!
ok ...me and my wife got a weiner dog puppy on sunday...so cute!

so I have two old tom cats and they are terrified of him...does anyone have any advice on how I can get my cats to not be so scared?

Its kind of funny as they are 16 and 14 pounds and the puppy is only 2 pounds but the cats act like the puppy is going to attack them or something!

here he is

1. Those pictures are so cute
Puppies are a little erratic. The cats probably find that unnerving. They'll get use to it.

2. Just give them time.......
I have had dogs and cats together that got along famously and one cat that just decided to be a bitch and not get along. The dogs quickly learned to stay away from her. The cats will tend to let the puppy know what they will tolerate. The only major concern is if the cats swipe at the pups eyes, but Dachsunds are, after all, vermin dogs and are pretty quick.

Just give the cats time to warm up to him.

BTW....they are AWFULLY cute as pups.

Call him a "Cuteshund"!

Good luck and may he live a long, happy, healthy life!

7. I can tell how it works in reverse.
We found a half frozen Kitten in December thought it was a Manx. The people we gave him to reported he was terrified of their dogs would spit hiss and try to attack. Their cats avoided him. One thing that was odd when you picked up the kitten he went limp. After about two months the Kitten which would fit in your hand weighed 4 pounds. By the fact of him going limp and rapid growth the Vet declared he thought the Kitten was 1/2 Bobcat. Six months later the Kitten weighs 15 pounds, has made up with dogs (inseparable) and is reported to be very gentle with kids, dogs, and cats. He is one strange looking cat. Just give it time.
