The LEGO CAR
Volvo cars of North America, LLC and LEGLAND® California have joined together to promote driving safety and family values. Since the beginning, we had particularly promoted the use of seatbelts to protect our most precious cargo, our children. As part of our partnership, a replica of Volvo’s award-winning SUV, the Volvo XC 90, was constructed of famous LEGO® bricks.

LEGO XC90
How much does to weigh? It weighs 2,930 pounds. The LEGO XC90 is hollow.

How long did it take to build? It took a team of three LEGO Designers three weeks to design the LEGO XC90. It took an average of five LEGO Model Builders 2 months to build the LEGO XC90. It would take one presto more than one full year to build the LEGO XC 90. The project started in July 2004 and was completed in September 2004.

How was it built? It was built on an actual Volvo XC90 frame, to the exact specification of a real Volvo XC90, one brick at a time using only bricks that LEGO makes for every day use by children of all ages!

Where was it built? It was built at the LEGO North American Offices in Enfield, Connecticut.

How many LEGO bricks did it take to build the LEGO XC90? It took 201,425 LEGO Bricks to build the LEGO XC90.

2. Its made out of legos
Some of the things people build out of legos are incredible. I remember years ago in the Hunt Valley Mall in Maryland they had a display of legos. The display consisted of the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials and the Capital Building and White House all built of legos it was cool.

4. Why don't I remember this?
I'm guessing it was before Hunt Valley Mall became Death Valley Mall, but I don't remember legos at all. That would have been so cool to see!

If you haven't been there lately, you should check it out. It is about half way finished being reborn as a hopping place again. :-)

So it was maybe ten or more years ago.

7. Ah yes, the good old days when there were decent stores in that mall...
I work in Hunt Valley, I've been out here for about 18 years. Back then I generally only went into Macy's, so that is probably why I missed that display.

Thanks,
Debbi
