Top 5 Rainy Day Albums
It was raining today and I'm reading High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. So in honor of High Fidelity and my music addiction I present to you my top 5 rainy day albums (in no particular order)

1) Grant Green "Idle Moments"-probably my fav jazz album. I'm not a big jazz nut but this album is just so laid back and easy to get lost in.

2) Allman Bros Band "Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival"- Johnny Winter on Mountain Jam, nuff said

3) My Morning Jacket "At Dawn"

4) Prince "One Nite Alone Paris 2002" A Prince boot from last year's tour. Killer show with some heaaaaavy guitar

5)Bob Dylan "Live Bootleg: Rolling Thunder Revue '75" What's a top five list without Bobby Dylan?

How about you all?

It's true. Don't knock Maroon5, they're not as bad as that crappy song they put out on the radio.

on edit:
do i get credit for this?

4. AH, a YL16 Music Post!
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 10:19 PM by ZombyWoof
1. Bob Dylan - "Blonde On Blonde", and not just because it begins with "Rainy Day Women 12 & 35".

2. Miles Davis - "Kind Of Blue". It was raining the first time I heard this album. A lasting impression.

3. Willie Nelson - "Red-Headed Stranger".

4. Pink Floyd - "Meddle". Especially good driving in the rain.

5. Claude Debussy - "Le Mer"

On edit: Monsoon season ended here in northern AZ in September, so I won't have many rainy days for a while. I had my fill in Seattle anyway.

17. cool
I bought that Waters album when it came out back in 1984, on vinyl, BEFORE they censored the cover!!! It must be rare, even the CD (they delayed the release of those back then) was censored upon release. I didn't have a CD player until 1986 anyway. :-)

Oh, and I do listen to the album.

19. he hated it, lol
He declined to go on tour with Waters, saying the music was too turgid for him, lol!! But for the 80's it was as good as EC got. :-)

22. too funny
I hate pretty much everything Clapton did before or after that record. It probably didn't make EC any happier when Waters was looking over his shoulder every second he was in the studio, as he's been known to do to other contributors to his work.

27. the music
ThemusicthemusicthemusictheMUSIC.

Now, I love lyrics, but sometimes they are not important. It is true these lyrics were based on a very real and difficult problem, a very real lyric, but what really mattered was Duane Allman's slide guitar soaring above Clapton's rapid-fire blues, and that Whitlock piano solo.

Sappy self-indulgent? NO way! That would be his late 70's and 80's work. ;-)

OH, one more thing, I was talking about "Layla" the album far more than the song. There is some serious playing on there.
