Listening to 4-Way Street, CSN&Y and these lyrics..........
jumped out a very true today.

by David Crosby, Guerilla

It's been a long time comin'
It's goin' to be a Long Time Gone.
And it appears to be a long,
appears to be a long,
appears to be a long
time, yes, a long, long, long ,long time before the dawn.

Turn, turn any corner.
Hear, you must hear what the people say.
You know there's something that's goin' on around here,
the surely, surely, surely won't stand the light of day.
And it appears to be a long,
appears to be a long,
appears to be a long
time, yes, a long, long, long ,long time before the dawn.

Speak out, you got to speak out against the madness,
you got to speak your mind,
if you dare.
But don't no don't now try to get yourself elected
If you do you had better cut your hair.
`Cause it appears to be a long,
appears to be a long,
appears to be a long,
Time, such a long long long long time before the dawn.

It's been a long time comin'
It's goin' to be a long time gone.
But you know,
The darkest hour is always
Always just before the dawn.
And it appears to be a long, appears to be a long,
appears to be a long
Time before the dawn.

(You better Come In That Kitchen Because It's Got To Be Raining Outside)

1. One of the greatest albums ever
The music and lyrics of each song are so beautiful. Some tremendous guitars and harmony. I might have to pop that CD in too.

2. One of my favorite live albums
I love Neil Young's intro to "Don't Let It Bring You Down."

"This is a song that's guaranteed to bring you down. It's called 'Don't Let It Bring You Down'. It starts off kind of slow then peters out altogether." delivered in that Neil Young slow, ironic drawl. Cracks me up.

3. Oooh, one of my first albums bought in my youth!
I remember because my twin sister ponied up half the money for my birthday gift. Love it!

5. Find the Cost of Freedom
it's interesting that the last song on the album, Find the Cost of Freedom, was the "last message" they wanted to leave you with ...

it's lyrics are:

Find the cost of freedom
Buried in the ground
Mother earth will swallow you
Lay your body down.

i remember attending demonstrations against the Vietnam War where I sometimes felt like i might be putting my life on the line ... i often talked to other demonstrators about just how much they would be willing to fight and just how much risk they would be willing to take if we were attacked by National Guard troops or the police ... i'm not sure i see much of that level of commitment today ...
