What professional and college sports teams do you hate the most??
Choose one team from any professional league you can think of, and one college that you cannot STAND, and cheer for any other team playing them.

Here's my most hated:

NFL: Packers
NBA: Mavericks
MLB: Yankees
NHL: Stars
English Premiership: Manchester United
College: DI: South Dakota State University, DII: University of North Dakota

1. NFL: Cowboys
NBA: Lakers
MLB: Yankees (of course)
Premiership: Probably Man. Utd., only because I'm an Arsenal fan

30. Some of us grew up with the Cowboys
and despise the Washington Redskins..

Baseball: I root for the underdogs most of the time, whoever that might be. I used to like the Yankees, but I'm tired of the owner buying who he wants and paying fines for going over the caps.

NBA: Lakers

NHL: Not fond of the Rangers

In general, I've not understood why the Canadians are allowed into our "national" leagues in baseball and hockey, but yet our Southern neighbors in Mexico are left out. I'm not xenophobic, but I think with Mexico City and a few other larger cities, they would have the resources to fund some teams.

34. The "Nation" in National Hockey League is Canada
So it's not "our national" league in hockey. While the so-called original six consisted of 4 U.S. teams, all of the truly original teams when the league was founded in 1917 were Canadian.

See the Wikipedia article on the NHL.

33. Oh yeah, Cowbows
even if I weren't a Redskins fan, I would hate 'em. Tex Schramm and that 'America's Team' BS. :puke:

MLB: Yankees (even if I were not a fan of the Orioles)

NBA: Lakers

NCAA: University of North Carolina

Any team packed with glitzy, overrated media darlings who think they're superstahs

9. I am an old Sonics fan
Going back in memory to those playoff days in the 90's, I say fuck Karl Malone and the Jazz - and for the Suns, fuck Majerle, Ainge, Barkley, et al. Plus, PHX and Utah are such GOP hellholes to boot.

And since I also like the Lakers, let me add the Kings to that list above. :P

15. ah yes, the mailman delivers another elbow
and the Mormon assassin. Those are solid reasons, but players come and go.
I still remember Utah kinda fondly from the time I lived there although it seemed too Californian and suburban to me. At least they had a bus system, unlike Kansas City Kansas.

5. the packers? the packers?
What is wrong with you? Are you some kind of Viqueen fan?
As a Dakotan, I always resented the way the local TV news made the Twins and the Vikings "our teams". As a Dakotan, I did not live in Minnesota, although I was all too close to it, but as non-Minnesotans, there is no such thing as "our team". We can be Atlanta Falcons fans if we want to.
In the NFL I have a variety of favorite teams since my favorite team is "whoever is playing the Dallas Cowboys".
In college football I would have to say that I hate Michigan, mostly because they humiliate the big ten by their inability to win a Rose Bowl. In college basketball I hate Duke and Kentucky because they almost always have number one seeds and make the final four every single year.

23. Born and raised a Vikings fan. I'll go to my grave hating the Pukers.
And the only two Minnesota teams that are my favourite are the Vikings and T-Wolves. My favourite baseball team is the Red Sox and my fave NHL team (pending their return) is the Winnipeg Jets.

24. Ya just growed up wrong, on both counts
Now, if ya hated da Bears or the Cowboys that would make sense, but except for the 94-98 years when the Pack played in 4 straight NFC championships, the Packers have never been much of a threat. Then again, the milktoasts of the midway have not been monsters since 1987 either. Packers have always been kinda fun because they are usually all offense and no defense. So a Packer game involves alot of big plays for both teams.
I was a Viking hater just for spite because they were pushed on me, but I finally decided that Fran Tarkenton was too great a quarterback to not like. Then there was "two minute Tommy" Kramer and Ahmad Rashad and Sammy White. Ahmad never mentions his own "immaculate reception" Eagles vs. Vikings 1981. That was one helluva comeback! Probably before you were born.

32. mostly because the media tried to shove them down my throat
Partly because I went against the herd just to be annoying. Anyway, I said I used to hate them, but I have not hated them since 1977. I still had to laugh that year they were 15-1. They kept talking about a superbowl against Denver and I kept thinking 'they have to beat the 14-2 Falcons first'.
From my experience Minnesota is infamous for its hubris and its arrogance, particularly towards Dakotans and Iowans. I speak from experience, having gone to school there for five years. Too many Minnesotans went out of their way to dis my home state. It was not just a kid thing either since their governor at the time was quoted sneering that SD is "50th in everything". So they have earned a little bit of enmity.

7. My hatred for teams is really intense at the college football level
Especially against Notre Dame, but I now hate Ohio State University because of the Fiesta Bowl fiasco a few years back.

Even though I'm a huge Miami Hurricanes fan, I don't hate the other Florida teams as I should because I have a certain respect for them. If the Canes are not going to win it all, I will root for either FSU or UF to win it all.

NFL: Broncos with the Chiefs coming in at a close second. I'm a Raiders fan so that shouldn't be surprising.
(But I will always root against the Arizona Cardinals because they are such a poor excuse of a football organization, and I couldn't help but notice considering I lived in the Phoenix area for four years).

MLB: Atlanta Braves. I'm a Marlins fan.

NBA: I'm a Heat fan so I should hate the Knicks, but I really don't, so I'll say the Indiana Pacers (of course, that all can change this post season).

as Brian Sipe just being a player that got on my nerves. Then came Bernie Kosar. From there it has evolved into the Browns being a team I could not stand. When the original Browns moved to Baltimore, I felt like I was lost. I was glad to have them back!

14. Miami has had more than 15 first round draft picks since 2001
And they still manage to finish in the top ten each year. So they've gone a couple of years without winning a NC. Doesn't mean you can count them out.

And as far as buying their championships, you're probably talking about the old Miami Hurricanes, before they were put on probation during the mid 1990s. The program is clean now because they really have no choice. The NCAA watches them like a hawk.

19. Those kids are all from Florida, specifically South Florida
If you look around the NFL, even at the players that did not play for Florida college teams, you will see that many of the standout players are originally from Florida.

There's is no doubt that Florida produces the most talented football players.

21. I met him before and he was a real nice guy
He was down on South Beach more than ten years ago, shortly after the Browns lost a playoff game. I think it may have been against the Broncos, but I'm not sure.

And he was with this huge guy who was obviously a lineman, but he was an asshole. But Bernie was real nice and talked to me for a few minutes even though he didn't know me from hell.

The Canes get most of their players from Florida, but they always have to go out of state for their QBs.

38. All football (soccer) teams - especially Manchester United
Well not really hate...but damn close.

Football is just ghastliness turned into a sport, and it is nearly impossible to avoid the deluge of it over here.

Man.U. for 2 reasons, first my sister is an avid supporter and so I dislike them in order to wind her up (also we're a good Yorkshire family, and supporting a Lancashire team is far beyond the pale). Secondly, they call their pitch 'Old Trafford' which is also the name of the Lancashire County Cricket ground - so people will start talking about Old Trafford and one will start to pay attention, but then realise it's about football (grrrs.).
