I think I'm coming unglued
Every night for the last week I've woken up repeatedly in the middle of the night from fucked up, post-apocalyptic dreams, sweaty and scared and tangled up in the sheets. It got so bad yesterday that I've actually started sleeping with the stuffed dog I've had since I was a baby. It didn't work. It's dragging me down and wearing me out and making me cranky. Talking to my momma didn't work. Talking to my friends didn't work. I have a presentation to do at work tomorrow and I'm scared to go back to sleep. The world is in a state of wholesale higgledy-piggledy and my brain is apparently waiting for it to blow up. Someone please tell me it's going to be ok and make me believe it.

1. Hi, VelmaD.
I can't tell you that everything is going to be OK, but I can share with you the best advice I was ever given for my "control issues." That is, "The only thing in life you can really hope to control is your own reaction to the events around you."

I'll send you some light. Take good care of _you_.

2. It sucks now..
Get scared when you have a strange knock on the door in the morning. Things are OK. The majority knows when things have gone to far. We are close but please close your eyes and relax. I will wake you with a gentle knock and a soft song to let you know it is time to fight.

3. It's going to be ok
The only thing you can do is live your life to the best of your ability; I know it's batshit crazy right now, but if you let it consume your soul it'll eat you inside and that's not healthy.

When this happens to me I turn off the tv and political internet sites for awhile and mentally recharge my soul; it helps. I meditate every day as well, and that's a big help, too.

You're not alone:)

6. When I was in the seventh grade, I used to worry every day
that there was going to be a nuclear apocalypse. I dreamed about it constantly. I was sure it was going to happen at any moment.

At the time, I had to sell those stupid World's Greatest Chocolate Bars for orchestra. I had the money at home, and I kept forgetting to bring it to our teacher. I promised him every day that I would bring it to school.

Finally, he blew up at me. He said, "Well, did you think there was going to be a NUCLEAR WAR overnight, so you wouldn't have to worry any more about bringing the money??!!!?"

A light bulb went off. I realized that not only did other people, even grownups, worry about such things, but also, I had to live my life in spite of it. I had to bring the candy bar money to school. I had to do my work.

Sleep. Forget about it for awhile. Then, when you get healthy again, maybe we can make some changes to the insanity.

7. The world is going to end and there's nothing you can do to stop it
I just don't want to be around a billion years from now when it actually happens
