Worst films seen lately?
House of the dead---so utterly awful it is worth seeing. It actually has video games spliced into the movie. Terrible plot, inspid dialogue, cheesy effects, bad acting---no one even seem to have tried on this one. I laughed my ass off. I say see it. It is just too bad to miss.

1. My friend Chris saw it
He said that when it comes out on video, he's going to get it so he can show to future generations what NOT to do in a film.

The TV spots for it made it almost look kind of cool. But the video game cutscenes spliced into it would have made it awful...ly funny.

2. View from the Top
one of the worst I've seen lately, and suprisingly so, given that it had a respectable cast.

It's billed as a comedy, but it's more of a 'chick flick', and even at that, it runs out of steam about half-an-hour into it, and struggles the rest of the way through. Mike Myers and Gwenyth Paltrow usually do much better work than they did here, not to mention the rest of the cast. I was truly disappointed.

6. I was watching that with my wife and stepdaughter the other night
and my wife, not one to be horribly critical of a movie, said, screw it, this sucks, I'm goign to bed. The step-daughter thought the male boyfriend of Paltrow was a bad guy until I convinced her that no, he was supposed to be a good guy, he just couldn't act to save his life. She made it all the way through and told me that was the case... I went to bed.

3. Breaking Wind, or
whatever that piece of shit about folksingers was called. We walked out, along with many in the audience.

To do satire, you have to have an edge. Mel Brooks has it. Whoever made that "movie" does not.

5. A Mighty Wind
Absolutely LOVED it. But then, I'm a musician and maybe the jokes were a little too "in" for general consumption. There was a thread about this movie a few weeks back. Most loved it. To each his own.

7. I loved Mighty Wind!
This movie was created by Christopher Guest ('Nigel' of Spinal Tap)--and eugene Levy. they also did Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. Guffman is among my alltime favorites

4. The Italian Job
Maybe not the worst, but a big disappointment. Once Donald Sutherland got knocked off, the film lost steam, then veered from ridiculous to absurd. And was there any electricity between Mark Wahlberg and that blond chick before they ended up together in the closing credits? If so, I didn't see it.

8. About Schmidt
(Actually, Kathy Bates nude was not gross, like you would expect. Now, Jack Nicholson on the can with his pants at his ankles, eww.)

What was the point of that movie? (I know, the guy got validation at the end for making a difference in a starving child's life).

But it took all that ???

9. The Ninth Gate
I watched this the other night. I can't believe a Roman Polanski movie with Johnny Depp in it could be so unbelievably shite. Really, really bad.

going to St. John's "Hollywood Homicide"....we would have walked out if we weren't on an airplane. Coming back, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle". Ghastly.

15. Me too
I knew it would be BAD, but I thought it would be bad in a campy, funny way, like most of Madonna's movies. I couldn't even laugh at it. It was just atrocious. However, the brief musical number was quite fun. If only that was all they had filmed.

and was SO disappointed. I thought it would be a fun rental; got some decent reviews. Stupid movie. Even Edward Norton was bad.

18. Gods and Generals
Ugh. I am a huge Civil War buff - the people, principles and politics more than the battles - and liked the movie, "Gettysburg," but Gods and Generals was just awful. Still the worst: The English Patient.
