cell phone quandry... do I go with the "free" samsung flip phone w/photo
feature? Or the motorola 600 which will cost me 150 but has a 100. rebate and which is being discontinued? I've been testing cell phones all week (tested another non-flip samsung and a non flip nokia.... )Frankly I think reception is far from perfect on all of them. I don't think its my service provider. And I really don't care that much about cameras and video and stuff. I just want a good phone to talk on. Sure there is that sexy new motorola but the battery life is only 45 min and I know it is just an accessory for the "gotta have it " crowd. I JUST WISH THERE WAS ONE SILVER BULLET CELL PHONE SOLUTION. I'd cough up some bucks if I knew there was.

1. Which model Samsung is it ?
I have a x427m. The reception is very clear on it and I haven't had any problems with it so far.

2. sgh-e315 is the model....
they give it free with the phone and i think retail it must be a coule of hundred dollars. it works pretty good most of the time but sometimes. grrrr.
I just cant figure out what i am getting more of if i pay more for a phone. if its just more features, i don't care.

3. Go with the Sanyo.
Sanyo phones have great reception and great battery life.

I had a Motorola 720 - the battery wouldn't even last a whole day on it, even when it was brand new.

I have a Sanyo now. The battery life is awesome...I can go 4 or 5 days on a single charge, and it charges in an hour.

Not even a contest. Go with the Sanyo.

4. I had a Samsung....
with T-Mobile and I loved it. The only problem was the large screen died (but the phone kept working--I just couldn't see anything, like who I was calling, etc.). I then got a major run-around from them and cancelled the whole thing. I now have a Siemens phone that I hate. I miss the Samsung but it didn't seem to be well-built.

5. The V600 is a considerably better phone than the e315
They ought to be pretty comparable in reception, with perhaps a slight edge to the Motorola, since it has an external antenna. The e315 phone is a budget phone, though I'm sure it'd serve you ok.

Personally, I'd go with the V600 without a second thought at a $50 price point. Particularly considering that it cost $250 just a few weeks ago. You never know if you might find some of its features (bluetooth, etc) helpful down the road.

6. Also
you should check out www.howardforums.com for info on phones. The people there will know way more about this than DUers.

7. I just got a Sony Ericsson Z500a

I cannot say enough good things about this phone. It is a flip camera phone, but just using it for talk, the quality is excellent. It's a sturdy, solid phone. The menu is very user friendly. It's a lot of bang for the buck. The battery is pretty long lived, especially if you don't fiddle around with pics and games.

8. I have a motorola 710 and my husband has the lg7000
I love mine solely on the fact that I can use bluetooth with it. The battery life isnt so bad when I use the headset and considering I really dont talk that much I couldnt give you a good estimate on how long it lasts. I just had it sitting on my shelf for 5 days w/o charging and it finally died tonight. I LOVE the sound quality on this phone. I've had many phones in the past, and this one has the best quality sound I've tried.

His 7000 is nice.. a little big for my tastes. He charges it every night so I'm not sure how the battery life is on that either.
