1. "I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove a thing."
The old Bart Simpson quote that's become the motto of the GOP.

4. You make a connection
between personal responsibility and political responsibility.

How did we get a congress packed full of Bart Simpsons? A congress operating under Simpsonian ethics?

2. what are some tips for

managing the level of responsibility?

I ricochet between the 2 extremes -- overly responsible in one area while letting something else go completely...am envious of those who seem to keep a balance, but it's too hard to sustain.

However being this way gives me a perspective on both ends of the spectrum.

11. If I'm left to my own devices
I'm pretty terrible - I'll waste time, money, effort &c.&c.

If somebody needs to depends on me - then they can be certain that I'll come through.

14. so
you are "responsible" in relationships where you are needed, but flounder around on your own time. Maybe you use that as an escape from being too responsible in all things (which can also be stressful)-- just a thought...

5. Too responsible. I should let someone else be the adult for once.

7. yeah but
how to do that when there's an ingrained pattern. The less responsible who have been leaning on you will be angry, won't they?

Hmmm, is it possible to become less "responsible" --since sevral people here say it's something of a problem for them?

9. My husband would be lost if we had to switch roles.
He is so laid back that nothing bothers him. So if I took his role and he had to be the responsible one, boy we would have a mess. Plus I don't think I could lay back and hope things get done like he does. I guess we really compliment each other.

12. it can be complimentary
I know a couple where both are extremely responsible and they argue over the finer points of each one's concept of responsibility.

13. I couldn't have it any other way.
I love that my husband is so laid back. Since I like to be in charge and like to be the responsible one, it works out perfectly for us.
