I have been making up flyers and basic info to start doing transcription work in my home. I plan on distributing to drs offices, clinics and such. I am just doing additional research (hourly rate or job rate, best places to advertise, etc) because I want it to work out.
I am also thinking about advertising for private housekeeping and small office cleaning, along w/ working as an assistant for private parties held in people's homes (I have cleaned motel rooms before years ago when I was in high school and college, plus I worked as a prep cook in a cafeteria for a year in college so I might be able to use that experience to my advantage). I am currently researching the rates(hourly vs. per job) plus the best areas to advertise. I am also looking into how to become bonded (looks better for prospective employers). I wouldn't mind being self-employed. If I can make enough, then I will look into purchasing my own health insurance and some more life insurance.

As you can see, I never jump into an idea halfcocked. I have to research all of the facts first.

36. I think that it could be moderately successful.

I have checked into what private housekeepers make around here. Sadly enough, it is actually more than what I make an hour (anywhere from 14-18 an hour US).
And transcriptionists get paid by the line. I can type (on a good day when my hands do not ache) upwards of 120 wpm so I think that I can handle that fine. Plus, I can pick that up when Callie is sleeping and do it in the privacy of my own home.
And the housekeeping would be done while she is at school, so I don't have to worry about a babysitter since she starts Kindergarten in the fall.
Everyone else thinks that it is a good idea, as long as I keep at least one of my jobs until it all gets off of the ground. My parents, of course, are against it.

They really don't think that I am smart enough to pull this off. I am usually treated like the family idiot ("Look, she's showing off again! Too bad she will never figure it out" and then they brag about my brother) so I don't expect any support from them on this idea. I wish that, just for once, they would support one of my ideas and be proud of me.
