Food memories - foods you liked growing, places to eat, etc (and a link)
http://www.columbustour.com/rest-history/chains.htm

Made me think about Sister's chicken and burger chef. There also used to be a food place called 'Borden Chicken' I used to like and I remember eating some chicken in the back of the station wagon one time with friends from there.

60's, 70's, 80's, et al - what foods/places to eat do you remember?

4. Palace Coney Island Restaurant
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 07:52 PM by Pithlet
At the Genessee Valley Mall, in Flint, Michigan. Back when they had a restaurant on the main level. The best cheeseburgers I've ever had. That was a family treat we enjoyed every Friday night, when I was a kid. They moved to the food court upstairs and had to stop serving burgers because they'd compete with Halo Burger. Halo Burger is good, but Palace's... they were perfection. I STILL crave them all these years later. On a recent trip back home I found that the Halo Burger was no longer there, and Palace was serving burgers again. They were good, but nothing like they used to be :(

5. The Gino's Giant
Much better than a Big Mac.

Gino's was an East Coast chain in the '60s and '70s. They had the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in NJ before the Colonel started opening shops there.

Burger Chef was also good. Another long-gone chain that had good burgers was Wetson's.

12. "Tastee Treet" a chain of loose meat/style burgers &best soft serve ice
cream EVER.

We had one in Kentucky and the little containers were printed up with the location of all the other Tastee Treets, and they were in Iowa, Nebraska and maybe northern Kansas.

I miss that place! I have tried to duplicate the burgers but just never could quite do it.

Does anyone else have a memory of Tastee Treet?

16. Roma's in Fullerton, CA
Corner of Euclid and Rosecrans, I think. Small sausage and extra cheese pizza. Awesome, smothered with the goddam cheese.

Also A&J's. Burger joint on Orangewood. Incredible chili size.

Thirteen years ago, but A&J's is still in business as far as I know. Need to plan a trip back.

But I believe Roma's is now for the ages.
