7. We really needed that
Falling behind 3-1 would have been the death of us, IMO. I know I said the same thing last week against Chicago and we came back, but I don't think we could have overcame it again.

Lets hope Penny can give us some good innings tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how McKeon handles the staff. Beckett could come back Saturday if the Yanks are ahead 3-2, but I'd prefer to save him for a Game 7. We're going to need either Willis or Penny to get us one more win.

What a great team. Unfortunately, I think this is South Florida's only hope at a championship this year(RIP Dolphins).

I'm hoping that when the Dolphins choke this year, Wanny will be gone. I just can't stand to see such a good team do nothing year after year.

10. Agreed
Lets see. They have McCarver, a Yankees announcer. Last series, they had Bret Boone, brother of Aaron Boone.

Not exactly fair and balanced.

23. Yeah and.........

McCarver was let go by the Yankees because he was critical of the players, Steinbrenner, and for speaking his mind on many Yankees related issues.......of course I would not expect you to know that since you know nothing about the Yankees or anyone and anything connected to them.......just another uninformed hater on this board..... *yawn*

i just think they were tired. also, the HR was kinda anti-climatic even for a homerun. I saw them interviewed on PTI today and they were adamant about this series not being about ratings but about the two best teams battling it out.

::edit:: though I am sure the FOX execs aren't too happy about the Fish being in the series.

17. This is the worst coverage I have ever seen.....
I noticed during the championship series, they wouldn't even get back from commercials before the first batter sometimes.

18. man, you gotta feel for Jeff Weaver . . .
he just can't seem to do anything right . . . the Yanks had high hopes for him, but he's been a real disappointment . . . and giving up this homer won't do much for his confidence . . . but I think the Yanks will take the next game, and then have to win one of two in NY . . . not bad odds, but these Marlins are a pesky bunch . . . turning into a really good series, well worth watching . . .

25. The Yankees, dear trumad, are not the Cubs
Good job by Alex Gonzales to jerk that ball over the wall - great pitching by Pavano et al., but let's be real, here.

The Yankees in 6.

30. Uh Huh...Right. Zero World Series in 95 years and a big fat choke
this year just absolutely proves how marvelous they are. Oh Joe Borowski, you are a pitching GOD. Fear the bat of Eric Karros. And batters tremble at the sight of whats their names...ya know, the people that aren't Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, or Sammy Sosa...You know, those guys...with the uniforms...

33. no...I'm sick of fans that don't shut up when their teams lose.
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 02:29 PM by donotpassgo
No, the Red Sox and Cubs don't deserve to be in the World Series because...they LOST. They aren't better, because they LOST. End of Story. And most of this is from Sox fans. At least the Twins and Marlins fans aren't showing out.

As for me...I get annoyed at the Yankee hater/baiters initiating arguments they cant win.

The dialogue usually goes like this.

HATER: Screw the Yankees. Fuck them. Payroll. Bla Bla Bla. They suck. Bla Bla Bla. I hate the Yankees. Bla bla bla. Killing the sport. Bla Bla Bla. Low Ratings. I hate them. I hate them. Continuous Soreloserman venom...

YANKS FAN: Yankees are and always have been good.

HATER: See...Yankees are so fucking arrogant.

YANKEE: No we are just used to winning. Quit the sour grapes.

HATER: Why are you so defensive? Screw the Yankees. Fuck Them. Payroll. Bla Bla Bla. (in an endless loop)

Sounds like you're obsessed with other teams and their fans, that's for sure. That's usually a sign of an inferiority complex. And, yeah, the grass is always greener on the other side.

21. that was a huge win
because now that has Penny and Beckett coming up next for the Marlins (I seriously doubt Redman will pitch again). Like I told my co-workers, if Florida can beat Prior and Woods back to back, they can beat anybody.

22. I'm just really glad Clemens didn't take the loss
To me, and I know this goes against everything, but it was more about those moments - getting through a shaky first innining, retiring 8 in a row, getting a hit and trying to break up a double play, and striking out the last batter he'll ever face.

Neither he or the Yanks got the win, but he kept them in the game close enough so they could tie it off, and when he ran off that field for the very last time, he had to feel good.
