HELP: Can you give me some ideas for this Political Science essay...
For my Political Science class (International Organization), we had to choose 2 questions/topics from a list and write a 5 page paper on each one. I already wrote one essay, now I need one more. Here is the topic I chose.

I know you guys might not be familiar with the subject matter- I just need some springboard ideas.

*

During the 1992 presidential campaign, President Clinton proposed the creation of a voluntary UN rapid deployment force. Harvard University's Joseph S. Nye, a former member of the Clinton administration, has suggested a rapid deployment force of 60,000 troops supported by member states and built around a professional core of 5,000 UN soldiers. President Clinton made a similar proposal during the 1992 campaign.

Should there be a United Nations Volunteer Force?

*

I am sort of leaning toward the "yes," but any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Peace,

1. do the rules of this assignment permit you to seek help from others?
You wouldnt want to commit a breach of academic integrity, you know.

Or at least not in a way that might get you caught ;-)

You never know - your prof may be lurking here....

(FYI - I am not your prof)

3. No rapid deployment force
...because when you rush, you might forget something. Like socks, or a toothbrush.

And then there you'd be, sockless stinky-breath.

:silly:

4. that's what Halliburton is for
to come in, deliver that pair of sox for the low, low price of $25/pair plus a $1250 delivery fee.

Have you not been paying attention? Besides - like body armor, some troops don't even get sox anymore.... :sarcasm:

6. I doubt your professor is looking for a specific answer

whether yes or no. He/she will want a thoughtful analysis in which you advance a clear argument supported well with evidence. Some poly sci profs insist that you use models. You probably have a sense if that is what this professor wants.

When I was in grad school, I took a couple of political science courses. My first paper got the equivalent of a C. For the second paper, I wrote the exact same thing using the kind of models the professor liked. He thought it was brilliant and that I should change from my own discipline to do a PhD in poly sci. I found that amusing, since I said nothing in the second that I hadn't said in the first. I simply used their silly models to make the same points. In another political science class I had, the professor didn't care about models. I got the sense that it is a discipline that varies a great deal in terms of methodology.

7. I Hope to help you on this one...
I would say that yes...we needed some United Nations Help...I cant' say in anyway that I would be a "{for certain" person to look to for advice. Wish I could help you more...would have been much more helpful had I not been working so much.
I feel that the Right Wing factor tried and were successful in their endeavour to totally ruin the "left". I have had some personal experience , just more or less with people I work with...I have neither the energy or the stregnth to put them in their place , unfortunately..oh whatever...I work, work, work.
Anyways, once I get on my regular schedule...better get ready!! ONe of these days, KI might just kick some proverbial butt here...
