This thread is about SANDWICHES!
Yes friends. We have not had a good sandwich thread in while, so this is to make up for it!

My favorite currently:

Toasted Hoagie roll with turkey, swiss cheese, dijon mustard, leafy romaine, a little bacon, and maybe (if in the mood) some thin pickle slices.

Mmm!

1. Grilled Chicken and Apple Sandwiches
12-oz. can dark and light meat chicken, drained
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1-1/2 cups grated Swiss cheese
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 apple, finely chopped
12 slices whole wheat bread
2 Tbsp. butter

In small bowl, combine chicken, mayonnaise, swiss cheese, lemon juice, celery and apple. Make sandwiches with the bread. Spread outside of sandwiches with butter. Grill the sandwiches, covered, over medium heat, turning once, until cheese begins to melt and bread is toasted.

Crispy bread, crunchy apples and celery, melty cheese, tender chicken, and flavorful mayo - YUM!! These really do well on any George Foreman (dual contact) grill.

2. turkey meatball sandwich
I crave them. I make my own turkey meatballs by mixing the ground turkey with chopped onion. Then I put in lots of chopped herbs, salt and pepper. Roll them in bread crumbs and saute.

Sometimes I put in chopped spinach.

Put them on a whole wheat sandwich roll with a little thinly sliced onion and mayo. Also fresh lettuce. Divine!

4. you got that right
Practically nobody knows ho0w to do a pastrami the right way! Although I am corrupted, I also like a smidgen of mayonnaise and some dill pickles, but the place I get them from is called New York Subs! I have to tell them to hold the other stuff...

8. Greek Salad Pita
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 10:12 PM by youthere
The best:

Mesclun mix lettuce or romaine
Feta Cheese
Pine nuts
Chopped Kalamata or greek olives

dress with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice and stuff it into a warm grilled pita shell. Ambrosia!

Second Best-a good old fashioned rueben on dark rye with extra swiss cheese.

9. It starts with French bread. Then, one part of the bread has dijonaise...
...while the other has hot mustard. Add several slices of smoked tofurky, with chedder soy cheese. Then add lettuce, and home grown tomatoes. Pepper to taste. Wrap in a paper towel and zap it in the microwave for 25 seconds. Its the closet thing you'll get to an orgasm, without actually having one....

10. We need to get back to the origin of sandwiches
They are not about the food, they're just about gambling.

The Earl of Sandwich didn't like to leave the card-table to eat, and so some resourceful servatn decided to stick some meat within some bread, it was easily held whilst still gaming and became very popular.

So unless you're betting money at the same time as eating - then you're trampling on the sacred memory of the good Lord S.

11. Ok, I'm with you on the toasted hoagie roll, but then:
An oven-roasted boneless chicken breast, CHOPPED on the grill while bathed in Thousand Island dressing...

Then onto the roll with some baby spinach, sweet yellow peppers,
and a 50/50 mix of honey dijon and spicy brown MUSTARD.

Yummy!
