Speaking of commercials - is anyone annoyed by the new Onstar ones
where they pimp out kids safety so you are a bad parent if you don't get a car with Onstar?

"It'll help the police track the car during a car-jacking"

That line made me wretch.

1. They must calculate
"Hell, why not use fear? If it works for Bush, it'll work for us..."

3. If I had kids still at home, Onstar would NOT be a safety feature
Helping corporations to keep track of them is not makeing them safe!

4. those commercials are creepy, IMO
too big brother for me.

Sir, you've been sitting in your car for more than 10 minutes. Is something wrong?

Seriously, that stuff creeps me out.

11. there's a very similar ad
that play's off of the old folks' fear of having a heart attack or stroke... which is really nothing more than trying to trade on people's misery.

6. Fear sells.
It makes me sick- "who will track the car that was carjacked, with my little brother inside?" PUKE.

8. I hate all ads that use kids to advertise non-kid items
Local business people are the worst. But yeah that one particularly gripes me and the channel gets changed, or the mute goes on IMMEDIATELY when it comes on.

10. Besides, OnStar is practically worthless.
If you lock you keys in the car, don't do it if you're parked under something (like in a parking garage), or too close to a large structure or trees.

Also, I bought a new truck a few years ago and it came ready-equipped with OnStar with a free year's service. I got rear-ended about a month after I bought the vehicle...pushed the emergency button to get help, and they dispached a State Patrolman in San Antonio. I was in Dallas. About 275 miles away.

I did not pick-up the service at the end of the free year. My current vehicles do not have it, and won't.
