Will Ferrell to star in movie version of "Land of the Lost"
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 07:42 AM by LynneSin
I frickin LOVED this kiddie show when I was a kid. The "Special Affects" were such a hoot especially when they showed dinosaurs trying to reach into the cave where the family lived.

And anyone remember these guys:

and this lil guy:

I think Will Ferrell is the perfect choice as the head of the family and I hope they keep a bit of the cheesiness level that the original TV show had

1. Oh good. Another remake of good old tv into crap movie.

Apart from "The Brady Bunch", which was astute enough to take a microcosm formula and turn it into self-aware macrocosmic satire was brilliant.

But then, its sequel sucked too.

2. I'm kinda hoping they'll translate that cheesiness
I mean you could tell those dinosaurs were fake lil plastic things. If they decide to go "Jurasic Park" with the real look dinos then they'll ruin the beauty of the whole TV show.

If anyone can pull of the head of the Marshell family it's Will Ferrell

now they're going after Gen X!

BTW...i used to love this show, weren't the lizards called the slestacks?

BTWII...on one particular family guy episode peter sings the theme-song to land of the lost =]

- Land of the Lost Lyrics

Marshall, Will, and Holly
On a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known.
High on the rapids
It struck their tiny raft.
And plunged them down a thousand feet below.

To the Land of the Lost.
To the Land of the Lost.
To the Land of the Lost.

5. "Marshal, WIll and Holly
on a routine expedition, met the greatest earthquake ever known..."

Or something like that.

Doesn't anyone come up with original movie ideas anymore? It seems like every other movie is a TV show or a remake of an older movie, gussied up with special effects and sucking mightily. I see the "Bad News Bears" is being remade, for example; is that really necessary?

I used to watch "Land of the Lost" every Saturday, but I fully expect the movie to suck. What's next, "Sigmund and The Sea Monster"?

6. I wanted to live in "The Land of the Lost" so bad.
Sleestacks were friggin' crazy. I was always afraid they were going to lose their inability to come out in the day light and continue the chase out of the sleestack cave. Especially scary when the sleestacks appeared at the entrance to the family's cave at night. Didn't they have to keep a fire going or something to scare them off?

7. Then the dad got shitcanned
And they replaced him with the uncle. The dad somehow made it out and bailed on the kids.
