3. An amazing man
Supposedly, the date for Earth Day was chosen to be on his birthday, since he was a huge environmental activist long before it was fashionable, and because he was instrumental (along with Rachel Carson) in getting DDT banned.

He was a World War II hero as well, invented a gyroscope used in torpedoes, AND co-invented those little toy birds that dunk their heads in a glass of water.

One of the good guys. Happy Birthday, Eddie.
