I'm adopting a new cat tomorrow
His name is Cubby, and he's an all-white, golden-eyed Manx. He used to live with an elderly woman, who sadly had to relinquish him when she could no longer live on her own. :(

My friend Laura rescues cats, specifically ones with special needs (Cubby is deaf). She has an outbuilding on her property (she lives in a semi-rural area) and usually has between 12 and 24 cats at any time. My beloved Papa was lucky to be in her care for more than a year before I adopted him.

I'm very excited. I know that Cubby gets along great with the other cats at the shelter; I hope he gets along okay with everyone here. I'll post pics when I get them tomorrow. He's really beautiful. :D

3. There are some great DU cats, that's for sure
I wouldn't say that my life is "calmer" with my cats, not by a long shot, but I couldn't ever imagine living without them, either. :D

4. Cats are the best friends I have ever had.
I like animals better than people when it comes to true friendship. I think quite a few animal lovers feel the same way. Congratulations on your adoption. I hope the kitty adjusts quickly and easily.

9. Your present kitties might actually
become very protective. They'll be able to sense that he's not "normal" (for lack of a better word), and feel that they need to look out for him.

Glad you're excited, i'm excited for you! I love kitties!!

10. He sounds absolutely beautiful
An all white golden eyed Manx! He sounds like a rare gem. I hope he adjusts to his new home and your other cats adjust to him with a minimum of effort and difficulty. When I introduced Gomez to Felix (seven years his elder) Felix was really pissed, he even scratched my face when I was trying to tell him he was my number one buddy...

I'm sure after a few days all will be fine!

17. Thank you for adopting a special-needs cat, flamingyouth!
These little "factory seconds"-guys are often the last to be adopted, so a big thanks to you for making a good home for Cubby.

I have two special-needs cats, and they're the best!
