Excuse #82 on "Why to Buy a Hummer"
Seriously, I heard this on a TV commericial for a Hummer as to why I should drive an oversized, gaz-guzzling penis car

"While everyone else is roaming around lost trying to find their car in the parking lot, you'll be able to spot your car Hummer right away"

:eyes:

I'm not kidding you!

10. If I hated the UAW, I'd be hating my husband and his brother...not to
mention my father. I can support the UAW in far more "productive" ways than hogging the nation's oil supply. :hi:

11. UAW = Hummer
it couldn't exist unless workers readily built it. But let's get real...how many of them are there? And who drives them? My favorite basketball star Lebron James adores his Hummer and features it on his website. Kids read the website and find the Hummer has enormous social acceptability with their heroes. And then they learn Mom's hubby or dear Uncle or Grandpa MAKES the darn things.

Begfore you flame me, I hate 'em myself but here at DU we're always blaming Pubbies for its existence when its actually a big issue for Democrats.

12. I'm not blaming Republicans. I am blaming the greed and need for social
status among Americans on the whole. Democrats included. It transcends party lines. My father in law owned the company that made the side panels for the very first Hummer. It still wouldn't make me buy one. And first, one has to be able to afford the overinflated price, before one can emulate their heroes. :hi:

13. Which side is LeBron's butter on?
Let's face it - he's a Repuke in training.

Now, before you get huffy - consider this:

A-Rod (actually, Rush) money contract

Private school education (Catholic school - key in next point)

Has a child with his girlfriend - not married!

Has had a few scandals where he's received gifts and such, which bring him into some issues where he might have lost his eligibility.

Sounds like Repuke material to me. Wouldn't be surprised if they needed a boost to their "minority" membership.

I'm not saying that he has joined up in kissing Bush's ass, but there are the signs . . .

15. GM's Management Ineptitude is the reason for the Hummer
Sorry but instead of looking toward the future, GM is ressurecting the dinosaur vehicles of the 60's and 70's...

The bigger the better and who cares about gas mileage.

The union people may build them but most couldn't afford to buy one or fuel it.

GM's stock is nearing on junk status...that is Management's fault.....when the union members find themselves without a job it will be due to the morons who have been running the company...not the individuals welding the body frames...

19. Until recently, one of the reasons to buy it was a huge tax loophole..
No wonder they've been everywhere.

Hummer tax break gets hammered By Jay MacDonald • Bankrate.com

"One year ago, you could have driven your new three-ton, business-use SUV through a little-known tax loophole and written off the entire purchase price in the first year.

But Congress has tightened that controversial loophole for high-end luxury SUVs, though many of the rank-and-file heavyweights will still breeze through with the same 100-percent write-off in the year of purchase.

...

The tax provision's original intent back in the 1970s was to enable small farmers and self-employed workers to buy a truck or van without having to fork over the luxury car tax that was then in effect and has since expired. At the time, it made perfect sense to qualify the vehicles by weight because no luxury cars exceeded the 6,000-pound gross vehicle weight threshold.

Under the Jobs and Growth Act of 2003, Congress raised the deduction ceiling for these heavy-class vehicles from $25,000 to $100,000, bumped the "bonus deduction" from 30 percent to 50 percent, and left in place the accelerated five-year depreciation schedule. This, in effect, made virtually all three-ton, business-use SUVs fully deductible in the first year. More than 50 vehicles qualified for the tax break."
