I was threatened by a meter maid
So I work in a pet supply shop, right? Well, last night I was closing with one of my coworkers and the store closes at 9pm. At 9:10pm, a woman comes to the door and starts banging on it once she realizes that it's locked. So I open the door and before I can even say anything she says "I'm completely out of Iams for my dog; do you think I can get some?" And I say, "Well I'm really sorry, but we already shut the register down and it's on a timer. It can't be opened again until tomorrow morning." Then I tell her that there is a grocery store right up the street that is open until midnight and sells Iams.

So she gets really pissed and is cussing and bitching, but after a moment she starts walking back towards her car. I shrug my shoulders and get back to cleaning up. At 9:30, we're locking up and when we walk out I see the same woman sitting in her car in front of the store. She gives me a dirty look but I ignore her and go to my car.

This morning the manager calls me and tells me that the woman called her and was complaining about us. Which is fine. I don't care about that. What pisses me off is that she told the manager that she had written our license plate numbers down and said, "I used to be the type of cop that would make tickets 'appear' on people's records if they annoyed me. Maybe I should take that up again."

My thing is that maybe she was being a blowhard and just trying to intimidate us with her 'authority' as a meter maid, but it pisses me off that she said that. Am I overreacting? This also means that she can look up all of my information including my social security number and my address. How do I know she's not some psycho? I will certianly be keeping a close eye on my driving record for awhile.

1. Report it. She's a crook and shouldn't be allowed to hold a public office.
You've got yourself and your manager as witnesses. Unless the cops in your town really suck, the bitch is going to be out of work soon.

but a few people have told me that I am overeacting. Speaking of work though I gotta go. I will be back later. Thanks!

edit to say: someone also told me that she might have kids and that if I get her fired they will be the ones to suffer. That makes me feel a little bad.

3. Her kids are not your problem.
Yeah, I would feel bad for them, but they're not your priority. She should have thought about them before throwing around threats. That's bullshit and I hope you report her!

9. Heinrich Himmler also had children . . .
For me the primary issue is not her rudeness, but that she threatened you with what would have been a clear abuse of authority.

If she'll give you phony tickets (a felony, I'd imagine), what's to keep her from sending her friends on the force to bust the grocery boy who doesn't load her cart fast enough, or roughing up some teenagers who talk too loudly outside her house, or who knows what.

This sort of person can't handle the authority that comes with her job and you don't do the community any good letting her off the hook.

4. report her to authorities

They really don't like peons checking on people they have no right too. There's a Penal code for it in California, basically it says, you have to have a right to know and a need to know. Doing it cause she's piss off that she procrastinated all day and then decided to go your store when it was closing isn't your fault or her need to know about you.

On edit

I do believe in any state that falsifying people records is against the law. Plus the fact she threaten you. Reporting her to the authorities in your case to DMV maybe they can flag you records so when she trys to flasify your record they can nail her.

7. No one who threatens to use their power to make another's life a misery

should be working for the public. It's your DUTY to report what she said. It's against any oath of office she took. Your taxes pay her.

You mentioned about what if she has kids. What if she fucks with someone who has kids? Why should the possibility of her being a breeder have an effect on what you do? What if she DOESN'T have kids? Then you've blown a chance to get rid of or at least get reprimanded, an undeserving POS bully. Fuck her. You gave her an easy alternative and she was a ____ (and I don't mean 'Bitch').
