Today I told my Freeper butt buddy "I will have to kill you"

I see this guy every day down in the leper colony us smokers are banished to at work. He's a perfectly nice, charming guy -- except when it comes to politics (Limbaugh, Savage, pro-militia, anti-Arab...) He has learned not to raise that BS whenever I'm within earshot so we talk about other things. Sometimes though, he can't help it.

We were "joking" about the coming civil war between right and left in this country I told him "when the civil war breaks out I will have to kill you. But don't take it personally. I just hate fascism. Just like my great-great grandfather who crossed state lines to volunteer in the Union Army because he couldn't abide slavery... "

We both laughed heartily, and he joked that he'd be forced to do the same. (However he said it with much less conviction.) He said "you liberals don't stand a chance. None of you even know how to shoot a gun." I said "yeah, you might win the invasion but you'll never win the occupation."

This guy makes me laugh because he exceeds my most outrageous stereotypes of Rushbots. Its not cool to talk politics at work so tension must be quickly defused with humor. I can pretend to be extremist because he is.

I told him once " I'm an ultra left wing American liberal, which would be considered centrist anywhere else in the world." The others who have witnessed our exchanges have always been careful not to divulge their personal political leanings (if they even have any) so I try to use our little show to demonstrate how the current government's policies are so immoderate. Sometimes it clicks, sometimes not.

That's interesting. In the Navy I qualified on the M-16, the 45MM and the combat shotgun. I received the expert and sharpshooter ribbons for my efforts. Worked in Security as a collateral duty for six years. And, I consider radical religious zealots a domestic enemy of the Constitution. Conservatives lost the last civil war, they'll lose the next one.

But if it comes to that, I'm pretty decent with a firearm myself. A former roommate of mine was an All Army pistol shooting champion--and a pretty good coach as well.

Interesting character he was....Army Ranger turned into a total hippy, married a girl he met on tour with the Dead. Actually, now that I think about it, I married them! The shaman they wanted to hire was busy that weekend so....

At any rate, he'd be on our side!

9. George McGovern and Ron Kovic are flaming liberals that have killed

more people than the dumbass freeper ever thought of.

My brother in law is a Viet Nam vet that did alot of running around the jungles killing people. He is a flaming liberal.

I had a buddy that came back from Nam that also did deep jungle patrols killing enough people that he once pointed a rifle at General Westmoreland's back when he was doing a troop inspection, because he was so flaked out. He is a flaming liberal.

My experience with soldiers from that era was that they became liberal because they were apalled at the senseless violence and death, and were smart enough to realize that they were killing for lies. I don't know any Iraq vets, but in my judgement, there are many with similar profiles.

So the freeper is being simple minded if he thinks the only people capable of hoisting a weapon are neanderthals like himself.
