Poll question: Favorite Hannibal Lecter film?
All four are listed. Remember, Brian Cox played Dr. Lecter in Manhunter, with Anthony Hopkins assuming the role in the other three adaptations of Thomas Harris' novels. Movies listed in chronological order of release.

Don't forget the fava beans and a big Amarone - or a nice Chianti.

18. Agreed they are both magnificent (a rare feat)
Sir Anthony Hopkins takes the role of Lecter brilliantly.

I haven't seen the others to compare, but doubt that they would improve much on S.o.t.L.

2. I vastly preferred the film version of HANNIBAL over the book
I don't know if Harris was fighting a nasty bug or something, but I could barely make it through that novel because it was so disjointed, so campy, so...y'know, so. Ick.

4. Manhunter was good, if you can stomach

Michael Mann's style.

Looked like yet another version of Miami Vice in all it's art deco splendor. Come to think of it, "Heat" looked much the same. :)

11. If you've seen "Red Dragon" I would recommend renting "Manhunter"
I thought Tom Noonan as Francis Dollarhyde was fabulous, although "Red Dragon" was a little truer to the book. :hi: :loveya:  :pals:

12. I think it's better than the Red Dragon adaptation.
It's certainly worth the few bucks to rent it.

15. The dinner party scene
brings me to the vomit thresh hold when ever I think about it. Seriously, vomit is brought forth to the back of my throat when ever I think about brains sauteed with garlic or wine or whatever he used. :puke:

16. That was the single most disturbing scene of all
Even more so than his composed, rational, but hyper-brutal jailbreak in SOTL. Even Battalion 316 members cringe when they see it, I'll betcha.

10. I can only consider it a bloody comedy
Red Dragon was such an exceptional book, I was ASTONISHED at how bad Hannibal was.

It took everything so good about the first two and contorted it all into a mess.

14. Manhunter is a great film, buuuuut, Hopkins
plays the role of Hannibal better. He's incredible in Silence of the Lambs. I never saw Red Dragon, though. Hannibal sucked pretty bad IMO.
