Adult Swim is pissing me off!! (New episodes of Tom Goes To The Mayor)
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 11:19 PM by SmileyBoy
How is it POSSIBLE that anyone actually fucking LIKES this show?? How is it possible that this show had new episodes green-lighted?? I thought NOBODY liked that show!! There must be people who like that show if it gets new episodes, but WHO?? I have NEVER met ONE person who likes Tom Goes To The Mayor.

God DAMN, they can piss me off sometimes...

4. Yeah, that seems like a fairly unpopular show.
I'm surprised they greenlighted another season. I'm not picky when it comes to Adult Swim, but I don't find that show funny at all.

5. Because it's cheap.
First, there is nearly zero "animation" on the show. It uses Xeroxed pictures of real people instead of drawings.

Second, it allows iffy voice talents like Jack Black and Seth McFarlane to claim they've "done" animation. (Which is partially true in McFarlane's case...although his "Family Guy" isn't much better in terms of content.)

Third, it fits the attitude of the cynical male college student who knows he's heading for a future life in a Republican Hell, and knows that there is no Democratic Party to avert it. It encourages the cynical feel that politics is pointless, and so we might as well enjoy the decorations of the handbasket that's sending us to Hell.

6. I LOVE the FAMILY GUY
It may be a New England thing, but that show nails some curious features of life in that part of the world.

I think TOM sucks, though, and sorry, Japanese cartoon fans, I think the Japanese cartoons suck rotten eggs! I find Aqua Teen Hunger Force amusing in a perverse way, and I do like FUTURAMA.

And the greenlighted TGTTM really quickly. The only thing I can guess is that the two guys are best friends with the guy in charge of programming. Maybe I'm not in the right age group for it. I'm 21 and I think it's a crock.

10. No shit. There was a period where they didn't know if it was going to
get greenlighted for another 13 episodes. It took a flood of message board support for AS to approve a second season of the Venture Brothers.

18. Oh man
Venture Brothers is the funniest f-ing thing I have ever seen in animation.

Well, maybe not. But its still damn funny.

And to stay on topic, I can't stand Tom and his mayor. Some of the shows are pretty funny in spots, but the awful production value makes it impossible to focus on that. Can you imagine a DVD release of that crap? I'd rather shove my money up my ass and light it (the money) on fire.

9. And what the hell is up with Squidbellies
or whatever it's called? They promoted the hell out of it, and when it finally aired, half the episode were sketched keyframes. Plus, for some weird reason I'm getting adultswim in Spanish.

And isn't it about time for a FLCL rerun?

13. WHY the hell was Home Movies canceled?
That was one of the funniest wittiest animated shows ever, and the douche bags canceled it.

Tom Goes To The Mayor is dumb as hell. All that anime shit needs to go too, particularly the one that screams "You Dumb Ass!" all the time.

Bring back Brak Show, Home Movies, Space Ghost, & Baby Blues!

16. No, keep Baby Blues off the air.
That show was even worse than TGTTM.

I agree with you on Space Ghost and Home Movies, and partially agree on The Brak Show.

17. It costs them almost nothing to produce,
unlike the stop motion/claymation used in that insult to humanity known as Robot Chicken. I can't say that I find TGTTM all that funny but it doesn't irritate me like RC. I turn to South Park when that shit comes on.

They are actually CHEAPER than dead air!

Of course, DEAD AIR has the friggin DECENCY to leave you alone with your thoughts, and is therefore FAR superior!

Just not cheaper.

EDIT: Welcome to DU, jandar!

20. I'm thinking the creators are just really well connected.
They seem to have an "in" with a lot of people, maybe via Odenkirk. I've never seen such a universally despised program, and yet it remains on the air. Bah.
