Poll question: Greatest openly gay rocker -part II
Yeah, I've probably missed a few folks, and I know that Erasure and the Village People aren't exactly rockers, but they were influential enough that I felt they warranted incluson.

But more to the point of the poll...which of my gay brothers and sisters gets to be crowned as the one who BRUNG IT night after night? Who cranked out the tuneage that kept our toes tapping, and in some cases, our heads banging?

1. Freddie Mercury
Rob Halford wasn't always openly gay. But if you read some of Judas Priest's lyrics, you get a clue about it.

4. Yeah, but the leather outfits and the short cropped hair.....
...were also obvious clues.

3. Tough, but Freddie Mercury's voice is like an angel.
And he knew how to rock and get funky at the same time.

I heard him singing "We Will Rock You" the other day and almost ran out to buy whatever cd it's on. He is the kind of singer that needs very little in way of backup/background to be effective, and that is very much the minority in music I think.

6. Elton. In particular, the Elton of
"Elton John's Greatest Hits" on vinyl, before CD repackaging ruined it with the foul "Candle in the Wind."
