The American President...the movie

I watched this on cable last night for the first time and was blown away. Then checked imbd and found out it was directed by Rob Reiner over ten years ago!

Not to mention this movie inspired the West Wing. With all due respect and fairness, I don't watch WW because "reality" politics is real enough for moi.

I always feel good after I watch it. It's just so darn cute.

I really don't watch West Wing anymore, I used to every week, but now I work in the evenings, and I could set up my VCR, but that would make me actually doing something.

Loved the romantic part of it, and the Senator Rumson character was supposedly based on him, but now that I think of it, it was pre-Rove years.

My gosh, no wonder the wingnuts hate Hollywood, it's all in this movie!

the West Wing isn't reality politics, it's a utopian world run by democrats who care about the betterment of their fellow man, which makes it so much better than the real world.

yeah, i was trying to find a smaller version of that sign and when i did, for some reason the changes weren't coming out as clear as the big version.

14. If you enjoyed the movie...

...you really should check out the first three seasons of West Wing. You'd recognize some of Sorkin's 'signature bits' carried over from the movie to the TV show, and the writing is just marvelous.

I have "The American President" on DVD, but I still catch bits and pieces of it whenever it's on cable. :)
