Stop painting us as bad guys, says Wal-Mart chief
By David Litterick in New York (Filed: 07/04/2005)

The world's largest retailer has gone on the offensive as it attempts to shrug off its image as an uncaring employer that exploits its workers.

During its first media conference, Wal-Mart chief executive Lee Scott admitted the retailer's critics were "sometimes right" but complained that a lot of the brickbats hurled at the company were "unfair and inaccurate".

So remember, they're not the beastly people which everybody thought. Repeat that a thousand times before going to bed every night, you'll start believing it after a few years.

Edit to correct typo - damn fool that I am.

1. The mantra of the white collar slaves at wally world
I bet they tell themselves the same things every night. I'm sooooooo ready for congress to pass 27% trade tariffs on Chineese goods. It'll never happen in a million years, but i'm ready for it.

2. In today's WSJ, Tom Coughlin claims the expenses
He phonied up on his expense reports were for a slush fund to attack unions. WM, of course, denies it. Coughlin was the No. 3 guy at Wally World and was forced to resign in December after an audit found something like $300,000 in phony expenses on his expense reports.
