THere's already a Saint John... so do they use his Polish name?

would be my guess. The popes who were canonized went in under their papal names, though not necessarily the number.

but, the fact that there is already a St. John doesn't matter.

There are LOTS of saints named John. There is no limit. They're usually differentiated by a last name or description.

For instance, there is St. John the Baptist, St. John the Evangelist, St. John Nepomuk, St. John Chrysostom, St. John of the Cross, etc.

8. Most saints' names are dupicated
There are even two saints who were popes known as Pius. Pope St. Pius V and Pope St. Pius X; I heard one reporter suggest that soon there will also be a Pope St. Pius XII.
