How many of you ever received a thank you letter from a president?

I have a letter from President Bill Clinton thanking me for my support. I know there are a certain amount of originals sent out from a President, it does not appear to be written on a computer, but typewritten. How can I tell if this is an original or just a duplicate? I heard that if the ink smears on the name, it is an original but if I smear the ink it will not have the value. The date is December, 1996.

There is the seal that stands out at the top of my letter.

1. My dad got one from G.H.W. Bush
Thanking him for his letter of praise for standing up to the NRA over the AWB. My father is a gun owner and Democrat, but was impressed with H.W.'s handling of the issue.

4. I got a form letter from President Carter
When I invited him to my high school graduation in 1980. I also got a letter from the White House social secretary (Bess Abell) in 1964, which my mother decoupaged. My birthday's the same day as LBJ's was (August 27th), and my dad remembered everyone's birthdays and wrote to LBJ to inform him that his little girl was turning two on the President's birthday. They even wrote a short column about it in the El Dorado Times (my hometown Kansas paper). I still have the plaque in my study in my new house in Texas.

7. I have a letter from President Carter also.
I wrote to him to tell him I had voted for him in the school elections, and I received the letter in return. I'll have to try digging it out - it's in one of my boxes of old memorabilia somewhere.

5. I received a thank you letter from Kenneth Blackwell.
It was for working the '04 elections. Funny, I hadn't heard from him the 14 years earlier.
