Why do many newscasters leave out words like 'are,' 'has,' or 'is?'
Many newscasters seem to leave out those words every now and then. For example, instead of saying "Senator Reid has chided (or is chiding) the President's Social Security plan," an anchor might say "Senator Reid chiding the President's Social Security plan."
