Workers find mummified monkey that vanished in '70s

PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia (AP) -- A 30-year-old mystery has been solved with the discovery of the mummified remains of an unruly monkey that vanished from a store in this central British Columbia town.

Bryon Hill, working on a renovation crew, said he was "totally shocked" to find the mummified squirrel monkey above the ceiling of the old Kresge store in the downtown area this week. The monkey, about two feet from head to the end of the tail died with its hands around a pipe and was so rigid that Hill could hold it straight up by balancing the end of the tail in his hand.

"I poked it to see if was alive and phoned the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to see if there could be any health risks from working with it," said Hill. "It was hanging on tight, and we had to pry it off."

1. Just goes to show you...
As Granny always said, "Even a dead squirrel monkey knows not to let go of his pipe."

...Or something. ;)

3. It's not a mumified monkey
It's Bush's soul.

4. LOL
Just sprayed tea all over my monitor, thanks to you!

Actually, I feel bad for this monkey (unlike Bush, for whom I most definitely do not feel sorry). I'm glad we're mostly past the age of keeping animals in cages at stores and offices like this. I always felt that was really creepy. This poor little guy was trying to escape, obviously. <shudder>
