11. I can just imagine that "conversation"....
"And please Jebus, if it is your most amazicating will...take that bastard as he disamagreed with me, and told me I was going to Hell. I never forget a grudge, Oh Lord. So please see this through for me...Oh, and if it's not too much trouble...could you smite all those heathens in Florida that blocked my brother Jebbie from saving that poor women's life? This I pray in Laura's er....your son's name...Amen."

13. Greatest jazz album since the invention of the seed drill...
Dolphy was a first rate third-stream composer before there was a such a category.

18. I bought it right after I read the Downbeat review.
It was the archetypical avante garde jazz album. I played it for my father. "What's that?" he said.

I had heard Dolphy with Chico Hamilton before that. It was a change.

19. Nice.
The ONLY decent bass clarinetist, besides Gunther Hampel and The Mascara Snake (from Beefheart's Magic band.

I wish a lot of the "free jazz" that followed had continued down the path Dolphy blazed instead of getting sidetracked down "pure-improv" cul-de-sacs. The integration of composed pieces and free improv on "Out to Lunch" makes it almost unique, except for some of Zappa's stuff. (Zappa was a huge fan)
