11. It's one of the most realistic approaches to sexuality for a sci-fi show
No green slave chicks and emotions are tied to the sexuality causing conflict.

The second season starts in July in the US, and I know it's on a delay in the UK. 20 episodes, and it's going to be a long 3 months... can't imagine having to wait longer!!

I Tivo only, and skip all but the show. I'll have to alter my season pass to 'Keep until I delete' over the summer, I'll be gone for at least a month of it.

And, no, I'm not British.

20. Probably
I do not think they can process 20 in time to run all back to back starting in July.

It will then be on the same Stargate production lines. There was only 13 or so this season, so I can see it coming in two blocks.

The first season midseason cliffhanger was when Starbuck got shot down. Yet it did not happen as we were on 12 straight weeks of episodes (they showed 2 the first week back to back).

9. Ab-so-frackin'-lutely!!!
There are, I think, some episodes or parts of seasons that I've seen in sci-fi that are comparable:

- Some episodes in the last season of Star Trek: The Next Generation
- Some episodes in the last season of Star Trek: Deep Space 9
- Much of Babylon 5, season 4

That said, I've never seen a TV sci-fi show in its first season even come close to Battlestar Galactica. Every single Star Trek series was horrible in its first season (don't tell me you don't turn the channel on a ST:TNG episode the second you see a one-piece uniform) and while B5 was an improvement, its first season didn't measure up to later seasons. BSG is as good now as any of those shows at their peak in its first season. Therefore, I agree... BSG, best sci-fi TV series ever.

Who would have thought it, considering that until this year, you'd hear "Battlestar Galactica" and think of something at about the level of "Buck Rogers in the Too-Tight Spandex Suit"?

15. LOL!!
You just gave me a flashback - I used to work in a Sears stockroom, and one day, one of my coworkers stuck a couple of aluminum dryer hoses on his arms and said, "Danger, Will Robinson!" I just about peed my pants laughing.

I've seen a few "Lost in Space" episodes, but I'm not sure that there's ever been worse TV sci-fi than the "space vampires" episode of Buck Rogers.

26. yes, it's on the Sci-Fi channel
It's totally different than the original Galactica, though the premise is still the same - the cylons wipe out nearly all of humanity in a sneak attack, save for a rag tag fleet of ships led by the Battlestar Galactica, who journey to the mystical world of Earth... however, this new show has been compared to "24" in its intensity, and is much more mature & complex.

31. Every episode so far has blown me away
The mini-series was one of the few alien-attack movies that really moved me to feel that billions of people actually died. Most such movies and stories treat genocide as a sterile plot device.

The less "lovable" the character, the more absorbing they are. I get seriously drawn into the religious madness angle with Baltar. The character arc twists with Starbuck are also intense. They've managed to make Katee Sackhoff into both an angel and a demon.

The Adamas each seem like they're about ten seconds away from a psychotic break.

And does Sharon Valerii even exist anymore? I lost track, oh, before the first episode.

I was in my late teens when the original was on TV. I thought it was absolute garbage, a waste of several good actors. And Richard Hatch did more in his one episode on the new series than in his whole run as Apollo in the original BSG.

Sci-fi? It could be one of the best TV programs, period. The two-part series finale topped them all.

I don't know if I can take it, having to wait three months for resolution. I felt so bad for Lee. Someone, please tell me, should i grieve for Adama now?

The fight between Starbuck and the cylon was excellent -- a real fight, not a stupid hair-pulling contest.

grieve as in a real death -- I meant having to deal with the possibility that a favorite character might not be back. I would hate to lose this character.

Perhaps all the emotionalism of the last few days as me selecting excessive language.

44. The Show Is Simply Amazing
They took a cheesy 70s show and made it into first class Sci-Fi. The original show was made to take advantage of the Star Wars hype. In fact, Lucas wanted to sue over copyright infringement because the Cylon masks were too close to Vader's mask. Ironically, now Galactica the new TV show has surpassed the new Star Wars movies.

46. Dude, Come On
B.G. has taken Sci-Fi to a whole new level. They've introduced real human drama. The President of the Colonies was the Sec. of Ed., and she has terminal breast cancer. She is showing strength and courage throughout this whole ordeal. This show has a female lead character that has more dimensions than anything that any other sci-fi show has EVER done.

IOW, we can relate to these characters and feel for them, even though the settings are in a fantasy situation. That's not just good sci-fi writing. That's damn good writing period.

50. Really?
I love the show, and I'm a big-time Stargate junkie. BSG kicks a ridiculous amount of ass-it's on par with Atlantis, and easily surpasses SG-1.

On the other hand, I hate Roslyn. Completely fucking despise her. Religious fanatics inspire such a huge level of anger in me that words cannot fully describe it.

If Adama dies and Roslyn lives, I'm not watching the show until her cancer catches up with her/something else kills her. Old Man Adama's the only one who has any sort of real, sane influence over her (until his move this episode, at which point influence is no longer an appropriate term), and if he's gone, every episode is just going to piss me off...big-time. Although if he dies and has Tigh execute Roslin right after, that would make for an interesting dynamic...President Baltar. Scary shit, that.

51. But she didn't start off a religious fanatic
which is what's made her interesting. And I still don't think of her as doing anything really "fanatical" until this last ep when she co-opted Starbuck's mission. IMO it remains to be seen whether or not she really is a fanatic or simply unduly influenced by this drug.
