I got off the phone with my cousin Peter who does the family tree research. So he's been doing some lately and he found out our great great great grandmother on one side of the family had been a slave in the south. Seems like she was born in the south and left the south for the north after the war ended and thats how she met our great great great grandfather who was father of my nana's mother. Too cool, I love finding out interesting family secrets, I had wondered why I knew little about my nana's family's background truth be told.

I think Peter is probably more like a 1/8 black since he's in my dad's generation and this makes my dad 1/8 black. My great grandmother was born in the 1870's by the way.
