Is it possible to get transcripts of personal mobile phone conversations?
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 11:43 AM by JanMichael
Is there a service that can do this? Maybe not in the US but elsewhere?

I only ask because a idiot (Really, a real live idiot, really truly stupid)that I know has made that claim and I think he's full of horseshit.

But even a dumbass can be correct about some things on occasion.

So is it possible?

EDIT: I should add that the person making the claim is making it to a non-famous individual (Not me silly) in order to spook them.

4. Is this Steph or Michael?
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 11:02 AM by nothingshocksmeanymo
They would have different reasons for hanging up on the two of you:

If it is Steph...they no longer attract decent translators and don't have anyone on staff that speaks fluent "Jack Daniels."

If it is Micheal, you are a pinko, socialist, commie bastard and they already have your script down so why bother recording and transcribing you...they can read Chomsky too. :D

3. NSA has the Echelon service, as does the UK, etc.
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 11:08 AM by steve2470
they have the capability, if I'm not mistaken, to monitor every phone call on the planet.

7. I know about the big boys. But could a non-connected punk do it?
The person that has made the claim is off the grid if you know what I mean. No connecttions, no technical skills, no nothing.

He said he got them online from Pakistan.

5. I wouldn't say there's a service, but...
...it's certainly possible to intercept and record cellphone conversations.

It's why encryption is used, and why secure government buildings have areas totally shielded from cellphone transmitters, and why areas in some government buildings prohibit cellphones altogether.

8. In Florida, it is against the law to record cell phone conversations if

both parties are not aware of it being recorded. It is supposedly against the law to use a scanner to listen into private cell phone conversations, ergo, while it may be possible to have transcripts of private cell phone conversations, it is not legal unless both (or all) participating parties are informed and agree to it.

10. I doubt there is any publically available service
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 12:03 PM by TexasProgresive
but I'm sure that it is possible for the NSA and the FBI to not only acquire cell phone conversations but land line as well. They have no need to use crude wire taps but have high tech equipment in most if not all switches that allows them to access any line digitally.

This is a guess based on the FBI installing equipment in our switches a few years ago. I don't "know" but what other use would this stuff have?
