What I'm watching until the Cubs come on
An old tape a friend from Michigan gave me of the 87 Tigers clinching the AL East against the Blue Jays. Frank Tanana vs. Jimmy Key.

George Kell & Al Kaline calling the game. Tiger Stadium, not Comerica Park. Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Kirk Gibson.

(sniff)Memmmories...like the corner of my mind...(sob)

1. I lifted my ban of baseball to take my kids just once to a game
on Trumbull. It was a week before it closed, my 10 month old (then) learned how to clap there, we sat behind one of the infamous poles in left field (the very last row) and the Tigers beat the Blue Jays. As we were leaving Aerosmith was blasting,"I don't want to miss a thing" throught the PA system...and ...I found myself in tears. That was a great old park, even with the poles.

2. Ah yes, the "obstructed view" seats
Not even sitting in front of a girder could subtract from the joy of watching games in that ballpark growing up.

3. What time do the Cubbies play?
What channel are they on? This could be the clencher for them, right?

8. Oh shit!
Cecil Fielder played for the Jays that year against the Tigers!

He was about 50 pounds lighter and got thrown out trying to steal second! George pronounced his name "Cee-cil". :silly:
