Does anybody else remember Big John's Baked Beans?
Remember? There was a small can of the seasoning goop on top of the can of beans, and you mixed them together in a sauce pan? Man, those were the best canned baked beans I ever had. I can't find anything as good in the grocery stores.

I miss old Big John!

1. I do!
I remember stocking them in the store I used to work at. The two cans held together with sticky tape stuff. Like Chung King chinese food.

3. That was one of the reasons I got married!
So I could eat Big John's beans whenever I wanted. I came from a large family that didn't have a lot of money, so Big John's Beans were bought only for special occasion barbecues. I loved them! I always kid my husband that one of the reasons I married him was because he made decent money, and I could buy Big Johns Beans whenever I wanted! After our first year of marriage though, I think he started to hate Big John's Beans and Fixings. That was 25 years ago, and he still tells people he owes his married happiness to Big John's Beans!

4. Ha ha!
That's funny!

I'm glad there is someone else out there who remembers the good tangy flavor of those beans.

Weren't they made by Hunt-Wesson? I'm gonna send them an E-mail demanding that they start making Big John's again. :)

6. Damn. Hunts is part of ConAgra.
I think they make about 99% of what is found in grocery stores today. What a fucking beast!

Well, I E-mailed them and told them to start making Big John's baked beans again so we should expect them back on the shelves any day now. :7

7. Thanks! I'll let my husband know you told them to start making them
I'm sure he'll be thrilled that Big Johns will be back.....and just in time for him to buy me a case for our 25th anniversary! :)

Oh, and just to let everyone know, that's not all I fed him when we first got married. I made Spaghetti and Pizza from out of a box, and Tune Helper was one of my specialties!
